I was in the middle of doing some stuff around the house this morning and I turned on the puter and the TV to get caught up.
I kept switching between Fox & MSNBC to see the Iraqis setting fire to weeds along the river and the "search" for the downed aviators.
MSNBC then switched to an update re: the Black Muslim soldier from the "not really fragging" (my term) incident of yesterday.
I had already seen the footage of this guy lying on the ground many times and then being picked up by his hands tied behind his back. Therefore, I was not paying all that much attention.
This time, I swear I saw that MSNBC showed footage that electronically blurred the soldiers face and the general quality of the footage was degraded; i.e., not as clear as previous showings of this footage.
Simply unbelievable what is going on with this incident.
Did anyone else see this?

I am sure his family is very glad that he is not being show or identified,

until the sanitizing of this incident started.
Yep - last night the graphic onscreen used the term "Black Muslim" - I knew THAT wouldn't last long; but I don't know why they're now pixilating, when it ran his face clearly shown for hours last night.

Rumsfeld would not be pulled into a judgment on the details of what happened. Russert tried to get him to comment and Rumsfeld said something to the effect of - It just happened! He knows the implications of this and will let the investigation take its course.

"Offended", my arse!
They pixated him because he is butt-ugly and looked like he got a couple of rifle butts to the nose. ;^)

As he must, Rumsfield is a pro.

I did not see it, but I know the Brit papers were showing photo's of POW's doing the same thing. Part of the Geneva Convention rules I think.

Now that he's a prisoner and being accused.. his identity is now being protected? Perhaps that is the answer.. not sure.

Does anyone know:
Since this occurred during war, can't we summarily execute the guy in Kuwait after a court-martial? If he's found guilty, that is...
We have to be firm here.

"Rumsfeld is on the show and very wisely saying very little."
This is proof that political correctness trumps the truth every time. This is how Marx and Engles would have wanted it -- they must be proud.

What is Taqiyah? He who disbelieves in Allah after his belief in Him, (is the liar) except he who is compelled while his heart remains steadfast with the faith (has nothing worry). But who opens his breast for infidelity; on these is wrath of Allah, and for them is a great torment.
--Quran, Surah 16 (an-Nahl), verse 100
This verse of the Quran refers to the incident when 'Ammar bin Yasir (May Allah be pleased with both) had to utter some words against Islam to save himself from the Quraishite infidels.
The Qur'an clearly allows hiding one 's true faith when one is in danger of one's life. This rule is called taqiyah.
Question 1: What is the meaning of "Taqiyah"?
Answer: Its literal meaning is to safeguard; to defend; to fear; piety (because it saves one from the displeasure of Allah).
Question 2: What is its significance in Islamic terminology?
Answer: In Islamic terminology it means "to save life, honour. or property (either one's own or of other believers) by hiding one's belief or religion".
I imagine the same rule would apply for a Muslim who hides his jihad sympathies.
