One of the soldiers wounded in the grenade attack has now died. On the phone live with Fox just now, Time magazine reporter Jim Lacey, an eyewitness to the devastation at Camp Pennsylvania, made the following statement about the possible motivation of the soldier suspected of participating in the deadly attack:
"I do not think it's a chain of command problem. I don't think this is a soldier disgruntled with the military. I think this was someone striking out because of a misguided interpretation of his Muslim faith."

Non-radical American muslims, you have a real problem on your hand. You guys have to do a lot better at reclaiming your faith from these extremists, or America is going to have to re-evaluate certain tenets of our nation.

This scumbag seems to be an American Black who converted to Islam. He may or may not belong to Calypso Louie's outfit. Many Blacks take up Islam without belonging to Farrakhan's group. Many are free-lance Muslims. My speculation is this guy does not belong to Nation of Islam. And about him being disturbed and crazy? This meshes well with being a Muslim convert.

Not necessarily. Many Muslims world wide believe in the doctrine of Jihad. Sabotaging and vanquishing the "enemies" of moon gawd Allah

I saw this report live last night. A soldier being interviewed off-camera called the guy a "mal-content." He said the guy had been so for a period of several days.

Since when do "disgruntled" soldiers work in concert with Iraqis who are recent hires as interpretors
Since when do they act under the cover of an "air raid" siren
The grenades were cached..which begs premeditation
The Brigade Commander's tent and the tents of C&C members were targeted
As the commander exited his tent (according to first reports) he came under small arms fire by first reports
The enemey knew who they were looking for and where he would exit-this makes it an assassination attempt on the Brigade commander by at least one muslim under his indirect command..perhaps more..
If you listend to Lacy's report when it was fresh...(and I agree) this soldier was not 101 but attached as an engineer...
The officers attacked were NOT his superiors and he would have had NO contact with them whatsoever..they would not have been the ones to reprimand him..The Brigade Commander would not reprimand or make decisons about his going along or not this would be the province of his immediated superior NCO or company commander in the engineers..
I have witnessed a fraggin attempt in Vietnam (the ususal suspects) against a senior NCO
who was giving unpopular orders and dished out non judicial punishment..
The perps didnt frag the brigade commander...they went after what they percieved to be their persecutor..
And they certainly didnt conspire with the local VC to do it either...had they and they been communists or of vietnamese extraction it would have been appropriate imo to look for a greater conspiracy among those whose religon or political beliefs may oppose the greater agenda of the Army
he was an NCO which assumes a "Secret" security clearance (they give these out to muslims?)
This was well planned and co-ordinated decapitiation attack..and assassination attempt imo on the leaders of the 101
The spin that this was a fragging attempt is ongoing even on FOX
This would be understandable as to not cause internal strife at this critical juncture...however if there is a co-ordinated attempt by muslim americans to aid their muslim brothers this certainly needs to be addressed...before another attack is successfull at an even more critical juncture in the fighting..
imo

Certain parts of what you just wrote do not jibe with what I heard. The story I heard was that the small arms firing was
at the perps, not
by the perps.
I also heard that while they had another person in custody (not a soldier), the other was not one of the interpreters- they had been cleared.

I was watcing fox listening to the initial reports and drawing on my own experience with fraggin by disgruntles soldiers
vs what is imo spin by later reporters..
If you heard the first reports from the embedded reporter vs the limey from sky news even Shep Smith blew off his (the brits) report and told him the military told them to believe the embeds first..
It was interesting because the brit who wasnt anywhere near the action was already spinning the story of a "disgruntled" soldier something both the intital Fox embed and Lacy (who is quoted ) denied as well......
The guy on the scene first stated small arms fire was directed at the Brigade Commanders tent..
There certainly was firing back...once the explosions went off to the rear the guys on perimerter guard would open up automatically even if they didnt see anything...
One perp was wounded...by our guys...
To: ErnBatavia
This guy had similar problems in the army... They call it the "I don't like being told what to do by Whitey" syndrome.
Frag him.

I don't think this is a case of merely being disgruntled; I do trust the embeddeds' words before those of the anchors. However, I tend to believe the reports that say the gunfire was at the guy, since I have heard no reports of him hitting anything with gunfire, which he almost certainly would have if he was firing, since he would have had complete surprise at that point.

Your comment is completely inappropiate.
While I understand verbally saying something you might regret...you had time to think before typing and sending your post.
FWIW...I understand your "thinking"....but we still don't live by mob rule....despite what the left thinks.

I think this was someone striking out because of a misguided interpretation of his Muslim faith.
On what basis should we conclude that this murdering, cowardly traitor was a "misguided" Muslim?
What has he done that Mohammed wouldn't?

To: Sabertooth
Remember that the 911 hijackers were nervous and edgy before the hijackings, per eyewitness accounts. Just because the guy was "disgruntled" doesn't mean a thing. What counts is that he is a Muslim before being an American. I hope after this attack, the military isolates or sends home any other "disgruntled" Muslim soldiers.
To: ErnBatavia
Yep. I immediately thought of John Mohammed too.

No..I call war what it is. But your "get a rope" comment with it's sometimes implied racial meaning...( Note: I'm not saying this was your intent.., but as you say, "Perception is reality"..) was and remains uncalled for...even without any implied intent...As this country still generally has standards..that we are supposed to live by. And thus my "mob rule" comment.........
