McBride's wife, Alex Sink, considers Senate run (Florida)

TAMPA - Alex Sink, wife of defeated gubernatorial candidate Bill McBride, is considering a run for the U.S. Senate.

"I'm giving it real thought," said Sink, the former Florida chief for Bank of America. "I think I would have a chance, and I know I could put together a great team of people. I have friends all over the state. I don't have to say, 'I'm going to Pensacola - who does somebody know there?"'

In November, McBride lost in his bid to prevent Gov. Jeb Bush from becoming the first Republican to be re-elected to Florida's highest office.

The seat Sink would run for is currently held by Sen. Bob Graham, who may step down to run for president. The term expires next year.

Sink, 54, has been talking to close friends and some Washington politicos about the prospects of a Senate bid but said she may not make up her mind until the summer.

Like the other prospective Democratic candidates - U.S. Reps. Allen Boyd of Monticello, Peter Deutsch of Fort Lauderdale and Alcee Hastings of Miramar, state Sen. Walter "Skip" Campbell of Tamarac and Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas - Sink said she would not run if Graham seeks re-election.

Graham has not ruled out running for re-election if his presidential campaign sputters.

Republicans running for the seat include former U.S. Rep. Bill McCollum of Longwood and U.S. Rep. Mark Foley of West Palm Beach. U.S. Housing Secretary Mel Martinez has been mentioned as a potential candidate.

She did not believe in her own husband why should ANY voters believe in her. She would do NOTHING to back him up, and she represents all that is WRONG with feminists in marriage.

This is too rich!!!

I just happened to bookmark the marvelous Invitation to an Unprecedented Really [sic] hosted by Mz. Sink during her edukashun husband's futile run against Jeb last fall.

Incredibly, the link to their original website is still active. Bring you [sic] friends and family...

Sad as it is, if the Republicans can't do better than McCollum, Foley or Martinez, there's a chance she could win. I think Charlie Bronson, the Commissioner of Agriculture, could defeat almost any Democrat but I've no idea if he's interested.

There is always a chance anyone might win. She is just another smarmy, social climbing, butchy female, who is interested in personal agrandizement. Do not underestimate he sleaze. She is the type to pressure people with threats of business repurchusions for failing to support her. Remember she lives in one of the the Gorezones of Florida.

In a way you really have to be sorry for Mr. McBride. This really is the final insult and emasculation by wife. How can he live with that?
