LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Hollywood launched a another strike against the Iraqi war on Saturday during a politically charged ceremony that could serve as a prelude for even more fireworks at the Academy Awards the next evening.
In a star-studded luncheon at the Independent Spirit Awards, the arthouse movie industry's version of the Oscars, celebrities blasted President Bush and the American-led war against Iraq.

Note that those who prosper the most from our values, beliefs, and freedoms are the first to condem them.

They will be laughing out of the other side of their mouths when their careers and incomes crash.

I hope the actors speak their minds tomorrow, while our boys are fighting to liberate Iraq. The American public will see whose side they're on.

Yes, while they have the National Guard protecting them, they will be decrying the actions of those who protect them. Typical trash and ignorance schlepping for a dime.

I have a feeling that the Anti-American Hollywood folk will try to make some bogus statement about "supporting the troops" but "hating the war". What a bunch of hypocritical cowards.

Can someone out there do a list of actors/actresses who trash the U.S. and war effort?

I doubt anybody will be watching the Oscars; they'll all be watching what's going on in Iraq.
I bet Drudge on Monday morning will report that the Oscars had their lowest ratings ever.

The showdown is tomorrow night.
There will be three deadlines, each timed to coincide with the announcement of the awards for best actress, best actor, and best picture.
The request for surrender will be given to all three Iraqi Republican Guard units simultaneously. There will be three C-130s flying over each battelfield, each carrying a GPS-guided MOAB.
Failure to accept the last deadline will result in the dropping of a MOAB on the commad center. Far better entertainment than Hollywood can provide in their movies.
And the prize for the best picture goes to ...Donald Rumsfeld, director of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
You read it hear first.

Doesn't the Oscar statuette hold a sword? Perhaps the Academy should replace it with a ploughshare.

This to Julianne Moore: I suppose during WWII if we had waited for the Nazis to invade our shores and then serenaded them with songs telling them how much we loved them, the Nazis would have immediately turned around and headed back to Germany. The depth of the ignorance of the Whollyweird community is astounding. Though I suppose like most of the Tinseltown morons, she's had too many hits on the bong to be able to think even semi-clearly.

Snip your Blockbuster card in half. The movie studios derive more revenue from rentals from ticket sales. It will really sting them.
