Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Heard a CNN blurb about the resistance that our troops have been finding: said that whenever they've been detected, they've held the Brads & Abrams back, dropped a 155mm barrage and then moved on...

Lacey is now on Fox.
He was the first guy to report this, on CNN (though he understandably got a lot of the details wrong).

Any funny political stuff? I can not see them spoofing the war as of yet. (Have they?) Please, we West Coast FReepers want to know if SNL is worth watching tonight.

I just heard that the Kurds are basically saying they won't freak if the Turk troops keep coming in as long as it's been cleared with Allied/US command. But without that authorization, the presence of very many Turk troops could "destabilize" the situation in the north. MSNBC report.
Oh boy.

yeah.
All MOS's (job types) are grouped into set units... but in order for any combat unit to function they need x amount of different MOS's.so for example in the 3rd ID lets say 1/7 field artillery is attached to 3/7 infantry...infantry can't work without artillery and vice versa. and then medic units get attached and armor units get attached, commo units get attached,...it's not just single soldiers getting attached. That fragger wasn't just some random engineer they borrowed for a day...he's always with that unit, always attached to 101st cav....
there are 10,000 soldiers in one unit, that gets broken down into batteries, those get broken down in platoons....so they need enough engineers, or medics, or whatever for each platoon...so thats why they get entire units of engineers (or whatever)
and yes, I always talk this much.

The Colonel Angus skit was hysterical...
