Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, and, of course, Belly Girl...

When they show me a picture of Saddam reading today's newspaper, I'll believe he's in control.
Looks to me like his empire is on automatic pilot, winding down. The only remnant of Saddam is the utter inhumanity of the Iraqi military.

Hack says his sources told him that the ambush toll was much higher than reported. He's still on CNN.

I want Oscar news - only if it is spreading the news that some "star" said something outrageously anti-war when we have war dead today.
I could care less who won what.

I have to tell you, Greta aside, the level of surrenders has been far less then the "expectations". and rumsfeld was part of the whole effort to talk up surrenders. we know now, they are not happening. and I would like to see more video of civilians.

Which sources where those??? Jack Daniels and Maury Zanex???

I'm with you; if I wanted Oscar info I'd find a thread or just watch it on television (I know that's a novel idea for a lot of us). LOL

The problem I see with the war coverage is not the reporters, but the anchors and (especially) the producers.

Would not surprise me...80% of the animal rights freaks are probably homos also... I hate to break the news to you but the 'right' isn't exactly free of some very bad stereotypes either....

I logged off to watch some TV and she is just moronic. Shoe got taken apart by the military guy. Greta needs to stick to OJ type stories. Urgghhh.
To: muslims=borg
Please - let's not talk like that on this forum.

Zogby on the CSPAN/CBC fest. Reports strong support for the war. The longer this takes, the more support will wane. The reporter says "the more the casualties are reported, etc." drumming down support. Very biased.
Credit for this, Zogby says Bush does not act on public opininion, but on its belief of what is right. The call it "digging in on ideology"
Zogby saying this was a bad day for the USA, hostages, executions, slow down of traffic . . . and this will tend to degrade support for the effort.
It will degrade support to the extend the media says it should degrade support. Enemy within.

I hope so too. I want one of those a*s clowns to show their true colors.

Sky News ticker "2 US Cruise Missiles Misfire and Land in Turkey".. I was just speculating, perhaps the missiles didn't have proper "fly over" rights, so they just landed.. :p

For a different sort of "Belly Girl" - a very expectant and very beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones won best supporting actress.
No political comments since Steve Martin's lame opening.

Hack says the death toll from the wrong-way convoy was 100 or more. He didn't name sources.
