Final news from Batchelor Alexander.
John Loftus
who has many contacts in the CIA:
Special force operatives, CIA, on location in Baghdad
(280 he says)
with video cameras
photographed the leaders from a distance entering the bunker.
Photographed the earlobes
and got positive identification
from CIA Langley
that Saddam, his sons.
and most of the inner circle were there.
Two stealth bombers
each with 2 2000 pound bombs
Created a hole, a chimney.
Immediately the special ops put a laser beam on the hole
put the coordinates of the chimney
to headquarters
reprogrammed 30 tomahawk missiles
which have a 1 meter window
flew down the chimney
no one could possibly have survived
even if in a safe.
Got a video of the medical crew arriving
frantic digging in the rubble
after a considerable time retrieve Saddam
brought him out
with a gas mask over his face.
Video tapes made to confirm.
Everyone killed
sons, top generals
next morning
Tariq Aziz held an emergency meeting
frantic phone calls
all came
5 minutes later
20 cruise missiles came through the roof.
Baath party leadership eliminated.
Leaving electricity and telephone lines up
in order to monitor.
280 operatives in Baghdad
tapping phones
doing target surveillance.
Only two people known to have survived.
PR spokesman for Defence Department
and the Minister of Defence.
Haven't dug out the rest of the bodies.
John Loftus has known this story since Thursday.
(Disbelieve it if you want.
I believe it.)

Has there been any kind of a renewal of conservative or libertarian ideas in Canada in recent years? We do seem perhaps to be taking at least baby steps in that direction in the U.S.

Has there been any kind of a renewal of conservative or libertarian ideas in Canada in recent years? No.
There always has been a slight spirit
of rugged individualism in parts of the west
from which has come a feeble attempt
to create a slightly conservative party
which is unlikely to go anywhere.
(I forget the name of its present name and leader
it has had several in the past couple of years.)
I'll get hell from any Canadian Freepers
who happen to read this
but Canadians are far too servile a people
to support any true conservative movement
much less libertarian.

Thanks for posting the Loftus report. The basic story appears believable. A comment and a question:
1. no one could possibly have survived
That's not the same thing as the actual identification of bodies. We're all aware of horrendous accidents that no one could possibly have survived -- except that somebody does walk away unscathed.
In this case, the statement that "no one could possibly have survived" seems inconsistent with the retrieval of Saddam "with a gas mask over his face." That doesn't mean that he did survive, of course, but his body was apparently intact, so it does appear that somebody could, in fact, possibly have survived.
2. How would you square this with the mention of the timing of the bombing in Saddam's speech?

What was the scoop on the possible fiber-optic bypass? I didn't hear / see anything on that. (Heard about the Chinese-supplied cable but that's all.)

Kissinger. He definitely has the most monotone monotone. He has a monotone with a thick-tongued accent. I honestly don't know how Nixon understood him well enough to have two-way conversations. What irritates me is that he hasn't worked on toning down the accent in all the decades he's hauled it around with him in English-speaking circles.

Kissener just said, Saddam is is alive because the CIA says it is his voice on the tape. But when was the tape actually made? Just because it really is Saddam on the tape doesn't mean it was made right after the first attack on the compound.

Anybody know when Rumsfeld would have been before Congress
to give this secret testimony? More information about Rumsfeld:
Rumsfeld gave a briefing
to a congressional committee
Thursday night.
He was uncharacteristically upbeat
normally he is uncommunicative
but this time
his demeanour was completely different
he was completely giddy
he was entertaining speculative questions
which he normally doesn't do.
(Presumably they were speculating
on the demise of Saddam)

How did you find this site? Found it back when it still was linked by Drudge.
You mean it's not against Canadian law to post on FR...
It is illegal to import certain books into Canada
(for example, Nabokov's Lolita, and even Bernard Lewis)
but so far they haven't gone after the internet
to any great extent.
But give them time.
And it looks like you've been here a LONG time.
You must be an American????
Born and raised in Canada
but I did my graduate work in the USA
and taught there for one year.

but: how do we kill or snatch Saddam Hussein without triggering a retaliation? Another dynamic in play, as someone posted on another thread, is that the CIA/Pentagon might not want a 100 % kill confirmation on Saddam right now. As postulated, 'if the world knew Saddam was dead there would be immense pressure to stop the tanks on the highway to Baghdad'. For example you could hear the peaceniks shout, 'why continue to kill innocent iraqi babies when Saddam is already dead ?'.

The trickiest bit is the reference to the criminal act during morning prayers. Was that not close to when the deadline expired ?
