Reasonable crowd
Regarding the March 23 news story "Modest crowds at local rallies": I am quite sure you meant to diminish the value of the hundreds who did attend the U.S. troops/President Bush support rally in Raleigh, with the "modest crowds" headline as well as by combining coverage of pro- and antiwar demonstrations.
If the intention was to lessen the value of this rally and those who attended, I'd like to remind you of Mr. Webster's definition of "modest": 1) not vain or boastful, 2) not forward, as in "modest" behavior, 3) behaving, dressing, speaking in a way that is considered proper, 4) moderate or reasonable in thoughts and behavior, 5) not pretentious.
Actually this perfectly describes those who attended the Support Rally and in general, those who support President Bush and the troops. Thanks for the compliment!
By the way, in your rundown of the handmade signs, you missed the best one: "Land of the Free -- Because of the Brave!!"
