Dahlonega, Georgia is located just over one hour north of Atlanta in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a part of the Appalachian Mountain range. The town is rich with history having once been a gold mining town and is the home of North Georgia College which has a military program.
Today there was a Pro America "Support Our Troops" rally held on the town square with around 200 or more people in attendance. There were a handful of speakers mostly Veterans talking about how badly the "Flower Children" had treated them in the 60's and asked the ones at the Rally to continue to show their support towards the military when they come home one day. There were a few tears shed along with alot of flag waving and not one anti-war protester around.

This is the old courthouse on the square.
The Rally was held across the street with the speakers on the balcony.

I love Dahlonega. We would visit every year in the fall when I lived in Atlanta in the late 70's. God Bless you all.

"Now you know the rest of the story, why this woman is praying for Mr Bush."I already knew the rest of the story CHICAGOFARMER, but thanks for posting that for some who may not know, although I don't think you will find many here. I know a woman who was born and lived in Iraq under this tyrant, she also supports President Bush.

I live about 45 minutes north of Dahlonega and yes it is a charming little town, a great place to pan for gold.
I think this woman was the most patriotic person there, don't know if you can tell but she's wearing that star on her head.

Great pictures to send to the troops to lift up their spirits with the show of support from home! Thank you for posting them.
The balcony is a great idea for the platform for the speakers. And the old Courthouse is beautiful on this first day of spring.

We just returned from the rally in downtown Dallas, Texas and it was HUGE! All sorts of TV and cable there (watch us on CNN and read about us in USA Today!) It was raining and sort of cold but the crowd was great. There were more police than anti-war socialists there - there must have been 4 peaceniks across the street when we got there, maybe 8 by the time we left. Probably 2000 pro-Americans!
Had a great time!
