Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia?
Sounds like she was just looking for an excuse. Doesn't sound like a choice assignment.

"Ann Wright, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia"I wonder how many decades it will take to find someone to volunteer to fill this gravy job. I'm sure she will be sorely missed < /sarcasm > off

Wright said she has received about 150 e-mails from Foreign Service officers around the world expressing support for her actions.
GTFO!
There, now it's 151...
Honestly, is it that big a deal to work in the State Department and just do what you're told to do? And who cares what this ditz thinks about NK anyway. Who does she think she is to be advising Dubya about NK?

Would it have been against standard diplomatic protocol for Colin Powell to have faxed her back a photocopy of his ass?

This Betty should get ordered to active duty and sent to the Persian Excursion.

But she believed U.S. military forces shouldn't be used without Security Council compliance Where are we getting these people? Did she swear an oath to protect and defend the US constitution or the UN charter?

Since sending her letter to Powell, Wright said she has received about 150 e-mails from Foreign Service officers around the world expressing support for her actions. In your devotions this evening, I hope those of you FReepers of a relgious bent will ask God to give enough courage to the other 150 to resign as well.
We need people like this at State like a hole in the head.

Trash left over from the Xlinton administration that has only recently been brought to the curb. Hey Colin - for the good of America - get rid of the rest of it!!!!!!!!!!

Wright made her views on administration policy known to State Department officials through an official dissent channel...The solution is simple: Take everyone that uses this "channel" and transfer them to the Department of Agriculture. They're always looking for good county extenstion agents.

Wright is the third senior diplomat to resign in two months over the
administration's Iraq policy.
(big snip)
Since sending her letter to Powell, Wright said she has received about 150 e-mails
from Foreign Service officers around the world expressing support for her actions.
Three down, 150 self-important "public servants" to go...

Maybe after a few weeks in her new "SOLO" position of individually taging, cataloging, and photographing the entire reindeer
population of the total Anwar area ,(to make sure the before
and after drilling comparisons hasn't affected them,) will make her opinion change......

America has lost the incredible sympathy [resulting from the Sept. 11 attacks] of most of the world because of our policy toward Iraq.I would much rather the world respect us than have them pity us.
