They wish to reclaim the northern Oil Fields that they once owned......before the Imperal Colonialist Great Britan divided the land and gave it to Iraq........that and they want to outmaneuver the Kurds who were there before Turkey and want their homeland back........sounds like the making of Round 2

I for one think the Turks should go in.

You have got to consider Turkeys position. There are tons of ISLAMIC EXTREMISTS kurds in Turkey. An independant Kurdistan would just ignite the Turkey - Kurds to rebel. Last thing we need is another RADICAL ISLAMIC STATE. Trust me, Turkey is a "good" islamic state.

even if we grant that they once 'owned' the oilfields,
the world demand for that commodity at the time was about, what, 50,000 barrrels/yr ?

give me a f**kin' break ...

OK.

What was the "good" part?

The part where they promised us their assistance, and then denied it?

Or the part where they said they'd sell us their cooperation?

Or the part when they gave us flyover privileges, then revoked them?

Or the part where they weren't going to destabilize the situation and now they've decided to?

Iran's been more helpful than Turkey so far. With friends like these . . .
