Huge support for Chirac's Iraq stance

Friday March 21, 04:02 AM

PARIS (Reuters) - Public support for French President Jacques Chirac's stout opposition to a U.S.-led war in Iraq climbed to 92 percent, according to a poll.

The IFOP poll for Le Figaro daily newspaper on Friday compared to 86 percent who backed the veteran leader in a separate poll released on Monday, before the conflict started.

IFOP, which interviewed 1,003 people on Thursday, day of the first U.S. military strikes against Iraqi targets, said 87 percent of those polled opposed the use of force.

Sixty-two percent of those polled said they believed France's position on the international stage had been boosted as a result of its stance on the crisis.

France led efforts to block a second U.N. Security Council resolution authorising force against Iraq, to the fury of Washington and its allies.

Almost half of those quizzed by IFOP said they believed the main goal of the U.S.-led war was to take control of Iraq's oil fields. Another 17 percent said Washington was seeking to impose U.S. domination on the Middle East.

Only three percent said they thought the goal was to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, the main U.S. justification for the war. Baghdad says it does not possess such weapons.

I want to see a poll of how they like it when we try Chirac for war crimes if we find France violated U.N. sanctions on weapon sales.

You don't need a list to boycott. Next time you go into your grocery store, ask the store manager NOT to stock/order French products.

I don't even ask. I simply don't buy. They'll figure it out when they find themselves throwing out thousands of dollars of unsold French goods.

The "New World Order" is becoming Clear:

"US/UK/Australia/Japan/Eastern Europe" vs.
"France/Canada/Germany/Russia/China"

And, inexplicably, 98% find Jerry Lewis funny.

Their media lies to them and they have no means or gumption of finding out the truth for themselves.

BTW, who knows the origin of the name "Frogs" for the French? I have heard it all my life and know it was something the English said during WWII. What's the story behind "frogs"?

It does fit.

We know but we're tired of explaining it. The same proportion of Frenchmen believe the Pentagon staged their own bombing of the Pentagon on 911.

Yes, and now, regardless of cause, we are faced with a nation of these dim bulbs. Someone said they are the Palestinians of Europe. In terms of the alternate reality that most French seem to live in, yes, this is true.

So, what do we do now with this geopolitical fact? How do we handle the French in our future foreign policy?

They cannot be trusted ever again. They must be contained. Somehow, in the long run, they must be won over.

I am reminded of a pro-boycott thread yesterday where some "freeper" was whining on about the unfairness of "frog bashing". It seems she felt sorry for the poor "farmers growing grapes and lavendar" and experienced pain at the thought of those "family cafes" going out of business. Also she was insulted at seeing McD`s golden arches in the "ancient cities of Europe". I say piss on the Ancient cities of Europe and let those cafe owners go on that highly touted European welfare system! As for those frog farmers, they can take their grapes and that lavendar and stick them up their collective(ist) @$$e$!...in other words SCREW THE FRENCH!

From Chirac's reactor deal to Safire's rocket fuel links ("French Connection I, II"), this is the axis of evil.
