Protestors block ambulance

In Washington DC today at around 1:30 PM EST a group of protestors tried to block the intersection of 14th and K street NW – one of the busiest in the city. At the front of the group of cars that were obstructed was an ambulance with sirens on full volume. Fortunately, a group of police on bikes that double the number of protestors quickly emerged and pushed the protestors aside.

So this is what the protestors have resorted to – blocking ambulances at city intersections.

Beautiful! I'm all for freedom of speech, but they are putting people's health in jeopardy when they block the path of an ambulance. In that situation, I think the driver has every right to plow through such crowds in an effort to save the person on board. What jury with any sense would convict someone in that situation?

Yikes! As if ambulances in D.C. didn't have enough trouble getting to their destination...

When I worked up there, always told my wife "If I'm injured, drag me across a bridge, then call 911."

I heard George Wallace say basically the same thing about civil rights protesters that dared lie down in front of his Cadillac at a campaign stop once when I was a child. I agreed then as I do now, talk and scream all you want but when your protests affect traffic or rail lines you are a malcontent criminal.

You know, the antics of these anti-U.S. bigots is going to end up getting someone killed due to their obstructionist tactics. Whoever is in charge of crowd control is best advised to keep tabs on who these roadblockers are and with which organizations they are affiliated.

Because when (not if) the time comes that their roadblocking causes someone to die because they couldn't make it to a hospital on time, I guarantee you that those people and the organizations to which they belong should be SUED INTO OBLIVION.
