Chicago Tribune Admits Patriotic Rallies Bigger Than Appeasement Protests

From the establishment media's astonishing lack of coverage of the patriotic rallies and obsessive devotion to the appeasement demonstrations, you can't prove whether they're biased or just inexcusably ignorant. Now the Chicago Tribune has inadvertantly admitted they do know what's going on but just don't feel like covering the news.

"Some of the biggest rallies this month have endorsed President Bush's strategy against Saddam Hussein, and the common thread linking most of them is Clear Channel Worldwide Inc., the nation's largest owner of radio stations," the Tribune complained Thursday.

"In a move that has raised eyebrows in some legal and journalistic circles, Clear Channel radio stations in Atlanta, Cleveland, San Antonio, Cincinnati and other cities have sponsored rallies attended by up to 20,000 people. The events have served as a loud rebuttal to the more numerous but generally smaller anti-war rallies."

Check out what's going on here. The only reason the Tribune can stomach admitting the popularity of the patriotic gatherings is to criticize Clear Channel. Otherwise there'd be no mention that the pro-U.S. rallies of up to 20,000 people dwarfed the smaller appeasement demonstrations.

And why does the Tribune fail to raise its eyebrows over who's backing the appeasement rallies? After NewsMax helped break the story of the movement's Marxist backers, Fox News Channel confirmed this with its own report. Why won't the Tribune, New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc. admit this reality?

Crowd estimates for the Atlanta rally were up to 50,000 people.

Cops on ground estimated 25,000. An estimate made from an expert in an airplane was 40,000 - 50,000.

Boy, do the big mainstream papers hate new conservative radio, or what? Network TV and big newspapers are shocked and awed that they are losing to the New Media. Expect more Right Wing Conspiracy alarmism from the old gray ladies.. this is just too funny.
Old Media, join the UN in irrelevancy.

Those twits at The Chicago Tribune take deep umbrage at a commercial radio station supporting the Troops. But, they are silent about the Public Broadcasting, Pacifica stations being the defacto voice for mobilizing and supporting the anarchists, anti-war wackos.

Well I must admit I am at a loss for words on this one. I always assumed, from some of the things I had heard and seen, that Clear Channel was a big Liberal leaning org. Am I wrong? Or have they seen the light (money talks), and publicly changed their views.

I walked by the idiots in Times Sqaure tonight. I asked two separate groups of NYPD officers watching the anti-americans "where is the Pro-America rally?".

They both said the exact same thing.

"RIGHT HERE!"

Latest poll showed 70% support military action yet these twits turn a blind eye to reality.

And ... they have picked on Clear Channel because they are the hosts of Rush Limbaugh, Bill Handel, Roger Hedgecock, etc. All the VRWC people that the left is so afraid of.

Exactly...but so far no mention of the WWP connection to ANSWER and IAC.

Clear-Channel was a huge sponsor of the fundraising for the 9-11 victims.

Did anyone catch Glenn Beck on the original Chicago Trib story? He noted that some journalism professor was quoted (paraphrase), "I have seen no evidence that Clear Channel actually sponsored these events in an effort to curry favor with the Bush administration, but if it DID, it would be journalistically problematic."

Beck later stated that he got a call two days after the ChiTrib story ran from NPR which was seeking to do a similar story. Beck agreed to do the interview, stuffed it to the NPR interviewer more than once ("No, I can't say I'm a "typical" [insert sneer here] conservative talk show host, I voted both for W for Pres and Lieberman for CT senator."), and made clear that the rallies were grass roots organized by innumerable incensed listeners. Beck says NPR decided there was "no story here" (!!!) and declined to do the piece.

We pay for that, folks!
