MONTREAL (AP) Fans booed during the playing of the U.S. national anthem before the New York Islanders' 6-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night.
The sellout crowd of 21,273 at Bell Centre was asked to ''show your support and respect for two great nations'' before the singing of the American and Canadian national anthems.

far too many russians are happy to see anti-american sentiment spread-- since when have the ruskies been liberators? they have always been on the wrong side of liberty and now is no different. Yeah, I was very disappointed to see the enormous numbers of peacenik Russians out on the streets in Russia today. Fox News covered their rallies briefly tonight (Thursday).

The problem is that we haven't done enough to promote freedom and responsibility, as every day values among the people.

How longs it been since the Cup graced a canadien city?
10 years of being Losers at your national sport...will make you bitter and vile. Sure, they won gold, woopdedoo, but it ain't Lord Stanley's Cup.
It's all about the cup I say.
I bet the Rocket turned over in his grave when the 'nuks booed, what a embarrassment to Canada and the Canadiens.

Let's not stoop to their level. Just as we endured eight years of Clinton, Canada has to endure the Cretin.

Yes but the stakes are higher. There's not much wiggle room. And since Canada is so close and of such consequence, they deserve to be punished.

The Canadians fans should be booing their team and not the Islanders, as they fell eight points behind them for the last playoff spot in the East with seven games left. Time is running out for this once venerable franchise. Their success has gone the way of the Canadian exchange rate as of late.

Hey Nut yeahhh we don't boo Canuck national anthem if one of US Sport teams play Canadian sport team
To be fair, I remember pretty clearly the fans of the Detroit Pistons booing the visiting Toronto Raptors during the NBA playoffs last year. It's absurd - probably nearly all the players of both teams were American. It's equally absurd for the Habs fans in Montreal to boo the U.S. anthem (being played for the visiting Islanders) when the most players from both Montreal and New York are Canadian.

That was so rude.

How horrible. Our President and our troops are doing something wondrous. They are excising an evil cancer from this world and giving a terrorized and brutalized people their freedom -- and yet these despicable leftist countries see us as monsters. When the truth is finally revealed, and when grateful Iraqis thank us for delivering them, will these hateful countries be ashamed? I don't think so. If they were capable of shame, they wouldn't behave they way do in the first place. But they are all petty, depraved and small people whose hatred will NEVER diminish the glory and honor of the United States of America. They can spit on us all they want, but we will hold our heads up high and know that in the eyes of God, our President and our troops did a job well done.

Right, but that was because they had been booed in Toronto. I think it all started after the friendly fire incident in Afghanistan when those Canadian soldiers were killed.
