It also helps at least 20% of the Guard are giving up or are going too, but we will see when we reach Bagdad.

When those misguided "Petite" Republican Guard decide to use their Chem/Bio weapons is just when "Shock & Awe" is revealed.
There is one thing to keep in mind when dealing with soldiers who defend ruthless Dictators like Saddam Hussain, They have nothing worth fighting for, if they win, they go back to being ruled by a Dictator. We, on the other hand, are defending freedom and when the battle is over we have liberated an oppressed nation and we only occupy until some sort of democracy is established. The only thing we leave behind is a represenative form of government that insures all voices are heard through elections.
The point is..... They have lost, well before the fight starts.

Drawn out, but yes, LOL. I agree. If we do not get a total capitulation, we will have to deal with this or worse.

chemical warfare shells... Wait a minute! According to Democrats, there is no smoking gun! With out a smoking gun, there's no proof he has any WMD. We have to give him the benifit of the doubt!
If he uses WMD, that would make the Democrats.....wrong! (again)
Blix said in an interview (message to Saddam) that it would be bad PR if he were to use WMD. He'd lose credibility amoung the natons!
Lord, please keep our military safe from this madman.

SH being dead or alive is the key point. Everything really revolves around that question, and how much of the leadership did we incapacitate.

Here's how it works...
seargent: "Sir, we have no chance againt the Americans."
Officer: pulls out gun*bang* "I want a second opinion."
Thusly Iraq had no clue going into this how prepared they were and what scenarios were likely. they were too busy bragging to each other who would kill the most Americans.

At this point, if the Iraqi military were to seek to use chemical shells in artillery, actual combat experience in past wars indicates they would probably do more harm to themselves. At the present operational succcess level in this war, they would probably get jammed and have the toxins blow up upon themselves.

At this point, if the Iraqi military were to seek to use chemical shells in artillery, actual combat experience in past wars indicates they would probably do more harm to themselves. This is a point far too often overlooked, and one of the prime reasons that it was necessary--in this asymmetric war--to go after Iraq. Under optimal conditions these weapons can be tremendously dangerous to concentrated civilian populations [although by no means as lethal as the FUD pundits have claimed]. But they have far less efficacy against a highly mobile opponent, especially on a non-linear battlefield.
They may be usable if there is some kind of "siege" around Baghdad. But we aren't going to let that happen, either.
