Port officials are trying to determine what to do with several Iraqi crewmen aboard an Arab oil tanker anchored in the Delaware Bay.
The Iraqis are part of the crew of the Aldawha, which is registered in Qatar and owned by the Arab Maritime Petroleum Co.
Details are sketchy but Senior Chief Tod Lyons of the Coast Guard's Fifth District press office in Portsmouth, Va., confirmed an investigation was underway, but said no decision had been made about what to do with the Iraqis.

In the Delaware Bay..... Gee on one side is Philadelphia. On the other is the NJ Turnpike which goes north to Manhattan or south to DC. I sure hope somebody with a clue is running the investigation and will stop these guys.

Are they crew members of a ship? That wouldn't be so unusual.

Dog, I had thought about pinging you to this thread. I couldn't remember if Salem still were operating. I don't think people understand how serious this could be. The Delaware Bay and River are very close to too many things.

I just think . . . NYC
OBVIOUS TARGET.
DECLARED TARGET.
We've been dealing with terrorist nuke threats for at least 15-20 years.
There's umpteen sources including former Soviet defectors about 'suitcase' nukes--maybe even a 100 or so being loose on the open market amidst millions of Arab oil money buyers.
Al Qaeda AND Iraq AND Hammas have threatened with the most ominous tones and wordings.
We've had intel about such a ship being used.
We start the war.
And low and behold, such a ship shows up near NYC with Iraqi crew.
Is there anything wrong with this picture? DUH!?!

I think I'd want to mop every square inch of that ship--every cubic inch--if I had to do it with the Iraq's bodies. I'd certainly want to inspect all the holds, storage tanks, fuel tanks etc IN ADDITION TO all the cargo.
. . . BEFORE letting them closer than 300 miles.
