That doesn't mean it wasn't prerecorded.
To: JohnHuang2
Damn...that only raises the question of the time of the taping.

An aging, sick and weak Saddam, who hasn't been seen for years until this tape.

This whole "is it him or isn't it/did we kill him or didn't we" sounds awfully familiar...
To: JohnHuang2
Are they still saying he was unharmed?
To: lady lawyer
and it also doesn't mean it presented a scary picture to the Iraqi people - that's not a Saddam Hussein that they've ever seen before, either!

Officials say they can't determine the date of the tape, so I think you're on to something.
To: SJackson
It appears that the Israelis and Grampa may have been correct about an old, aging and fragile Sodamned being on that tape.

Yes, but if it was prerecorded, he probably would look better and not have to read from notes. If I had to bet, I'd bet he's alive....but scared Daschle-less.

Better at this stage to keep them guessing. He might as well be dead--in an hour or two he won't have any way to communicate with his generals except via satellite--which we'd pick up in an instant. So he's as good as dead for the remainder of this mission.

I personally think he is in North Korea, or somewhere else. I don't think he would be stupid enough to stay there.

The pictures posted on the other thread seemed to show the same odd shape of the jowls and the frown lines.

Why won't he be able to communicate with his troops? Something happening soon??? Stuck in a cubicle here and can't find anything on the web.

It may have been Sadaam but it sure looked like it was taped earlier. Something about it looked really odd or fake. Both my husband and I thought so almost immediately.
I just got on FR and I'm not sure where to start. So many threads....so little time.
Can anybody give me a synopsis?

On one of the news channels this morning, it was reported that our intelligence was so good that we knew Saddam was recording messages inside a van, preparing for the possiblity that he would be out of communication, for one reason or another. It seems to me that if he had just escaped an attempt on his life, he would have mentioned that fact. His comments, other than the date, were completely generic.
To: Wphile
I think i just saw him down the street at a little local tavern, he was watching the news and shooting pool.....
