Peggy Maher of the 500 block of Strathmore Road, March 10, expressed concerns to the Haverford Commissioners about air traffic. She said that years ago, she and her children would sleep out in the back yard listening to the sounds of nature. Now, she said, in the nice weather, the sounds of planes overhead are so distracting that she closes windows to try to keep the noise out.

Haverford Woman Is Directly Under Approach To Runway 17

For a minute there I thought we had another nutcase trying to be a "human shield" at her local airport.

awwwwww she cant listen to the sounds of nature... so we ALL should bow to the her wishes...

This is a slippery slope- imagine NO development anywhere because it would disturb 'the sounds of nature'

was upset to find out that she "lives 7.5 miles north and directly under Runway 17."

I would be upset to learn I lived under a runway, too.
;)

Airplanes fly over her house. That's just something they have to do to land. Strange, how that works.

Exactly. Does this woman use a refrigerator? Stove? Hot water? A cell phone? A car? Does she walk on sidewalks or in mud? Does she live in a house? Does it have cement at the base? Does she have any carpeting? Newspapers? Windows? Clothes? Groceries?

Most manufacturing is noisy. Does she reject it all?

These people who buy a home which is less-expensive because it's near an airport, and then bitch about the air traffic burn me up.

Many pilots flying final for one seven at night have complained about the glare caused by all the lights from this lady's house. Reports of her standing near the window nude also scares the passengers. Get some blinds wimpy.

I recall a few days one September when NO planes were in the air..... THAT, my friends was horrible....... eerily quiet and scary as hell............ if this woman doesn't like it, she can move...... but don't move north, we are growing too and I'm sick of hearing all the bitching about it....... if they don't want growth, they can move out to West Texas where we lived...... NOTHING is growing there........

LOL. I thought *Exactly* the same thing. I once had an ex-boyfriend who turned into an idiot liberal at Haverford. And I do mean idiot with the liberal thing. Took him to see the 'Music Man' and he complained through the whole thing how it wasn't multicultural enough. Not fun.

It's sorta like Central Park, without the grooming.

Well, that's the new commuter ruanway. Tough luck woman.

Planes fly over my house in Fox Chase, and they flew over my old house in West Mt. Airy too.

You know those guys that come around and put pansies by the street trees in the spring, replace them with petunias in the summer, mums in the fall, and ivy in the winter?

That's "nature." Enjoy!

Oh, I've seen the trucks go up Park Avenue planting and removing the tulips in the Spring, and the Christmas trees in the winter. Ahh, nature!
