Surrender By E-Mail?
Posted on 03/19/2003 5:38:21 PM PST by lawnguy
I just heard an ABC radio news report that said Iraqi troops are indicating a desire to surrender via e-mail to allied forces across the Kuwaiti border. My question:
How does one find the e-mail address of an allied soldier? Was a web address printed on the flyers that were dropped?
Of course I know this doesn't matter a hill of beans, but I was just curious.
Thanks

Yesterday there was a report that the Pentagon was asking for defections amongst senior Iraqi military staff by simply calling them at home on the phone.

(We're approaching the one-year anniversary of Democrats accusing Bush of a "rush" to war.)

Uh...that would be hit reply and ask his location.

But the troops have been told not to fly American flags.
Too "provocative."

Hello Sir, How are you today? Would you like to watch that young man that answered the phone grow up to a ripe old age? We knew you would.

The US has supposedly been contacting Iraqi generals by email and cell phone for several weeks. We have their email addresses. I imagine all the Iraqi has to do is reply to the email address that our email came from.

encryption!
or code words
Perhaps the delay right now is the USA adjusting plans to take into account the prewar surrendering. (pre holiday shopping) In the last war they had to deal with catastrophic success.

If you think about where Iraqi military commanders would have access to email, it gives you an idea how high up and possible locations.Another good point, you guys are rolling tonight. Are battles for the phone line to plug into the modem occuring? I can imagine some poor schmuck with an old 28K modem cursing his fate. Dang it!! I KNEW I should've optimized my internet connection like the pop-up window told me!!

How about doing some hacking so it appears that the Iraqi generals ARE sending defection signals... then bounce the emails back to Saddam so he kills all of his top generals...
