Perhaps mostly the guilty will die.
Saving the Iraqi people from any more death and mayhem.
American compassion is our greatest tool.
Backed by a firm hand. Of course.

If he's having to send his "special" officers to the front then his "golden circle" around Baghdad is compromised.

Who can blame them? Start a new life once Saddam is gone or go out in a blaze of glory for some guy who could care less about you.

it is estimated that 73 per cent of the regular Iraqi army in the south of the country has already made up its mind to surrender to British and US troops. 73% eh? Not 74 or 72?... ;)

In the mainly Shia Muslim south, Kuwaiti border guards are having to turn Iraqi soldiers back - telling them that they must wait until an attack begins before they can surrender.
On your mark..
Get set ...
WAIT FOR IT ...

Chances are, they knew someone killed by Saddam. That's why they won't fight for him.

Gonna be amazing how many young and fit Iraqi men with military haircuts are in civilian clothes.

Chances are, they knew someone killed by Saddam. </P?
Probably half (or more) of the population of Iraq!

Just heard on KFI AM radio, they are removing American flags from all of our tanks. Anyone know the reason for this strange move? They said something like "for reasons of liberation, not dominataion"?? Did I hear this right?

...they must wait until an attack begins before they can surrender... Are these soldiers French?

Don't you just love non-technical people?
One only realizes the extent of the inaccuracy in most reporting only when you have either experienced, or have experience in, a reported event.
Fiction writing is as useful in many instances.
Culling the news reports for their essence was always mandatory, but now that we have multiple streams of media sources from which to choose including the raw and unfiltered, our comprehension of the reality of events is far, far better.
The Three Stooges (Rather, Brokaw, Jennings) have been replaced with Biography.

One of the national radio news reports said this was done because we are entering as an army of liberation, not of occupation.

Wouldn't it be funny if the US brought a French brigade into Iraq and let them loose. You'd then have a bunch of Iraqis and French soldiers running around with their arms up in the air, trying to surrender to each other....

The Roman army used to win a lot of battles like this - mass enemy desertions upon their approach because of their fearsome reputation. If this was the Bush strategy, to prolong this as long as possible accompanied by video of massive new bombs in order to maximize the stress on the Iraqi army and turn the "war" mostly into a victory parade, it worked brilliantly.

It appears they will have to issue rainchecks for surrendering......Blue Light Special.
Once the deadline expires, the pressure will really be building on them.
