Tehran, March 19, IRNA -- Former Iraqi army chief, Nizar al-Khazraji, who has escaped from Denmark in defiance of Swedish court ruling banning his movements for his part in war crimes has joined the US command council in Qatar, Iraqi opposition source said on Wednesday.

He had told IRNA so far that the US has invited several opposition figures to join the command council to conduct attack on Iraq.

Nizar al-Khazraji, suspected of crimes against Kurds in the late 1980s, is not allowed to leave Denmark. He has surrendered his passport and is required to report to police three times a week. These restrictions were imposed by a local court on November 19.

Khazraji was head of Iraq's armed forces from 1987 to 1990, fled to Jordan in 1995 and four years later applied for political asylum in Denmark.

He was denied asylum as immigration authorities thought it likely he was involved in chemical weapon attacks on Kurds in northern Iraq in the late 1980s.

Consider the source; that's the propaganda organ of the Iranians, a charter member of the Axis of Weavil.

> Islamic Republic News Agency

Set credibility filters to "extreme".

> Former Iraqi army chief, Nizar al-Khazraji, who has
> escaped from Denmark in defiance of Swedish court...

Well, he was reported missing. Even if we know he was kidnapped
by Iraqi agents, he could still be useful (even if dead).

> ... has joined the US command council in Qatar, Iraqi
> opposition source said on Wednesday.

If this is true, we're only hearing about it because the
Coalition wants us to, and it's instructive that the first
news source to get the story is regional.

> He had told IRNA so far that the US has invited several
> opposition figures to join the command council to conduct
> attack on Iraq.

> Nizar al-Khazraji, suspected of crimes against Kurds ...

Translation: if you want to avoid trial on charges of "war
crime" or "crimes against humanity", and in particular if your
name is on the top-50 list, this is the only way to save yourself.

We're willing to let Saddam live in exile to avoid the war.

How does a Swedish court have jurisdiction in Denmark? Whoever made this up doesn't understand that Sweden and denmark are two different countries.
