SECRETARY of State Colin Powell has said 45 nations are backing the United States in the coalition that may soon go to war with Iraq.
Powell: we are not alone
Powell said 30 of those countries - who had offered troops, overflight rights, logistical support and assistance and Iraqi reconstruction projects - were willing to be named publicly, while 15 preferred to remain anonymous for the present.
"Thirty nations have publicly said they can be included," he said in a State Department interview with international news agencies. The 15 others "will be known in due course".
The department later released a list of the countries that it said were included in what it called the "Coalition for the Immediate Disarmament of Iraq".
Those countries include: Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Britain, Bulgaria, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
Qatar is not listed, and we are stationed there, how about Israel, we are using Saudi bases. I think several more Arab countries are helping quitely.
If you look carefully to the list of countries who are on board, you will see that these guys probably can't stand up to a devistating blow to their economy and a terrorist attack to them would be Sept. 11th ten times over. I think it shows who these countries can count on and who will turn their back on them when the threat of terrorism hits their shores.
Chumps such as Pierre Dashle and others in the Senate should be deposed from view and cameras turned off if that is all they have to say. All of whom were for war in Iraq a couple months ago, and they should be branded from doing TV interviews until their spineless verbage no longer pollute the airwaves.
Seems as if France, Germany, Russia, and our liberals should re-think about politicization of the situation. There are others to think about besides lining their own pockets with deals to Saddam or earning brownie points by siding with the enemy.
