SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- A former University of Idaho football player has been arrested as a material witness in an investigation of Islamic charities with possible links to terrorism, FBI agents said Tuesday.
Abdullah Al-Kidd, 30, was arrested Sunday at Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., according to two FBI agents who separately spoke on condition of anonymity. He was carrying a one-way ticket to Saudi Arabia, court documents show.

He has been under surveillance since he traveled in August 2001 to Yemen, where he stayed until April 2002, one of the FBI agents said. Al-Kidd has said he went there to study Islamic law and learn Arabic. Why, this sounds strangely reminiscent of Johnny bin Walker.

Take it back:) Idaho is wonderfully conservative state that I wish my California neighborhood would take a cue from. Universities seem to be magnets for all kinds of nutcases.

I'm a big football fan and this makes me want to puke. Here's a kid that earned a scholarship at a major university that could have led to a degree and career -- and he joins al Qaida whose goal is to destroy this country. I hope this story isn't true, as it shows the depth of the possible infiltration of these vermin in our society.
