I think cheating is pretty much gender neutral. Women are probably cheating more now than before due to increased opportunities and temptation in the workplace than they would have had at home saddled with children. I don't buy that. I used to be a letter carrier who did "pick up" routes for other LC's who called in sick etc. There were plenty of women hustling to the door in lingerie only to be surprised the Mr. So&So was not the one at their door. Several times I had to try to find male LC's who were m.i.a. from their vehicles. They were nowhere to be found, inside of some house somewhere. I've searched over an hour for an LC to re-appear from a 15 minute walking route. I could tell you other stories as well.
Suffice to say, the workplace is not the only place there are "opportunities".

The Discovery Channel ran a documentary once that found that there were actually three kinds of sperm: 1) an
offensive sperm that would seek out the female egg, 2) a
defensive sperm that would curl up its tail and block passage to the female egg, and 3) an
attacking sperm that would seek out the sperm of another male and attempt to kill it.
Now, why would nature evolve the male sperm to run interference for itself and seek to destroy competing sperm?

Cheating depends on one's history and personality. If someone was extremely hurt due to being cheated on, then they're less likely to wish to put someone they care about through that horrible pain (History). However, if they become bitter, don't care what others feel, and are weak to temptation, then it increases it even more (Personality).
I can wager a pretty good bet that the ratio of cheating FReepers is MUCH, MUCH lower than the nation as a whole.
That's because it's in our nature.

Cheating husbands, in contrast, are increasingly looking for emotional fulfillment and may actually mean it when they tell their secretaries that their wives don't understand them. What about what they tell their interns?

Actually it was a documentary including believe it or not a vaginal micro camera....I know you think I'm joking...I don't joke about cheating.
It was a study...maybe Discovery or that Tech channel. Anyhow they actually had film of a rather gynecological nature that showed additionally that the women in this test group were more likely to also have their cervix become more sperm conducive (permeable) and that they secreted less hostile uterine enzymes when cheating at ovulation time hence increasing their chance of impregnation with their "lover" than with the spouse......if they were cheaters.
It would be interesting to see if a man's sperm count and morphology and motility also increased when he cheated and if we (men) had some innate sense to pursue our "lover" when she was ovulating.
I think it was a Brit or maybe Swiss study.
I swear on my 4 kids I'm not making this up.

made me laugh Women always want to meet comedians. I've never known a man to specifically look for a comic relationship. Men think women want muscles, yet women rarely express that. Body builders would be better off spending their time in comedy school.

I was a residential telephone installer in the late 70's. Not long after the song (telephone man) was out. There were a lot of lonely women who didn't work. You had to be artistic at turning them down or they would report that you came on to them. I don't think it's work related. I think some peolpe are born cheaters while other must learn.

Knowing that my wife will kill me if I stray makes life so much simpler.
You remember Dick Armey's comment about that, right?
When asked what his wife would say if she caught him cheating like Clinton had done, he replied, "She'd look at me lying there in a pool of blood and ask, 'How do I reload this thing?'"

Ditto. Of course you guys know that according to the mainstream media we are part of that fraction of a percent of men who are faithful to their wives. When they want to portray a faithful, grounded married man he always tends to look like Ned Flanders or Frank Burns. He's never just a hard working guy that loves his wife and kids and belongs to the NRA.

One very telling observation I did read about some time ago was that cheating women were exponentially more apt to literally "cheat" during ovulation. Elementary biology would predict that women are more likely to be interested during ovulation.

Now, why would nature evolve the male sperm to run interference for itself and seek to destroy competing sperm?I remember the Woody Allen movie where he played a sperm dressed as airborne about to jump worrying about what's out there:
"I heard you hit this rubber barrier and are poisoned."
"Or even worse, what if its a homosexual encounter?"
To: Sirloin
"I wonder what the difference is between FR and DU cheat statistics (ie are conservatives just as likely to cheat as liberals)?"
Don't have an stats but we have some very public examples of conservatives cheating. And getting divorced. And all them other things.

LOL That's a new one to me. I never heard Armey say that! True or not, it's funny stuff.

That was "Everything you wanted to know about sex, but were afraid to ask." My favorite line from the scene: "What if he's an astronaut? I might wind up on the ceiling!"

80% of married men cheat in America.
The other 20% cheat in Europe. Jackie Mason
To: Skwidd
Yep...it's hard to cheat by yourself.
I know many otherwise normal women who have had affairs with married men. Of course they all thought he was a victim of the "shrew" and that he truly loved them and would leave his wife....maybe 5% did.
It's amazing how many single women who seem rather decent otherwise will engage in an affair with a married man.
Men...the obvious horndogs we are...seem more inclined to fool around with married women if the man is a bit on the young side and lonely and thinks the woman is a victim....he rationalizes he's rescuing her.
FWIW observations...

Women are more likely to cheat...Do they also like to cheat more? Are more women likely to cheat? Do more women like to cheat?
