Putnam couple's squabble turns nasty (she drives him to police on hood of car!)

EATONTON - A Putnam County couple are in jail following a domestic dispute Sunday that involved them attempting to run over each other, the woman stabbing the man multiple times and her eventually driving him 4 miles on the hood of a car to the Eatonton Police Department, where she deposited him on the curb, according to a sheriff's incident report.

Rickey Binion, 32, and Shanta Rena Ingram, 31, both face charges of aggravated assault and criminal trespass. In addition, Ingram is charged with reckless conduct, and Binion is charged with criminal damage to property.

Both Binion and Ingram gave voluntary statements to sheriff's deputies, and both agree the dispute started Sunday after Binion had taken an anti-depressant while drinking unknown quantities of beer and liquor. According to Binion's statement, the argument began when he "found out that (Ingram) was having a sexual affair with someone else," according to the sheriff's incident report.

"He then admitted to having an affair with his ex-girlfriend," according to the report.

Binion asked Ingram to take him to his mother's house, which she did. The couple left his mother's house at about 9 p.m. after Binion knocked over a lamp. The statements differ on whether the lamp was knocked over accidentally.

According to Binion, the couple was traveling on the Sparta Highway back to their Eatonton home when Ingram ran off the road "after stabbing him in his right upper leg with a butcher knife." Ingram, though, says Binion started to fight with her in the car while she was driving.

They stopped in front of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Ingram said she got out of the car and attempted to flag down a passing motorist. That's when Ingram says Binion got behind the wheel of her Chrysler LeBaron and attempted to run her over.

Ingram ran around a sign outside the church to keep Binion from striking her with the car, and Binion apparently became frustrated and got out of the car to try to catch her on foot. Ingram then got in the car and started to drive toward Binion, who jumped on the hood of the automobile.

Binion then punched a hole in the windshield and repeatedly attempted to strike Ingram as she drove at unknown speeds toward Eatonton, according to Ingram's statement. In "self-defense," she said, she stabbed Binion numerous times as he reached through the windshield.

Binion rode the 4 miles into Eatonton on the hood of the car, apparently being stabbed along the way. When Ingram arrived at the front of the police station, she "made an immediate stop," causing Binion to fall from the hood of the car, said Eatonton Police Officer Michael Etheridge, who was standing outside the police station.

Ingram then drove to the sheriff's office.

Binion was treated for a total of eight stab wounds and lacerations at Putnam General Hospital and was released into the custody of deputies. The turf at Wesley Chapel church was badly torn up, deputies said.

I thought only Texas had a Cheatin' Husband Season. Around Texas, though, you can go to jail for a long time if you don't get the right tags on your licence before running over (or attempting to) your cheatin' husband. (Texas takes its game laws seriously.)

With a first name like "Shanta", I don't think these were "rednecks", if you catch my drift.
