Yes.... hasn't the Vatican one word of reproach to the Iraqi regime for its persecution of Assyrian Christians? All we hear from the Church is silence in the face of evil.

Yes.... hasn't the Vatican one word of reproach to the Iraqi regime for its persecution of Assyrian Christians? All we hear from the Church is silence in the face of evil. The Pope was once a great man.
The Vatican is stale and in need of a reformation - it needs to get with the program.

All we hear from the Church is silence in the face of evil. Now I see why the Church was criticized for it's silence against the action of Hitler and his Nazis. Not to mention the molested little boys.

That is because the church is much like the UN--filled with bureaucrats jockeying for position, and those carried away with their lofty importance.
Also, like the UN, they share the blame for not identifying and condemning evil in Iraq, Sudan, etc.

The secular Saddam gov't is arguably less immediate threat to Christians than misaimed smart bombs and depleted uranium fallout. One of our ancient Eastern Orthodox temples in Northern Iraq was destroyed during GW1 along with over eighty people who'd sought refuge there during the attack---collateral damage. It was reported in our monthly newspaper at the time.
There remain a significant minority of Iraqi Christians whose fathers survived more than a millenia of Islamic persecution only to perish from smartbombs,a twelve year blockade, plus infrastructure damage effects.
May God have mercy on our troops and on defenseless Iraqi's.
