Yes, California socialist legislators passed not one, but two AW bans, about ten years apart. Both are unconstitutional under several amendments, but both are in place and could be enforced, and both have been upheld by the commie court system, including the 9th Circuit and the Cal SC. I say possibly enforced, because as far as I know, no one, in the absence of the commission of any other felony, has had their arms confiscated under the auspices of either law.

The bastards in the Cal DOJ, led by that infamous freedom-hater, Bill Lockyer (who hopes to the next governor) were going to send out letters to about 2000 people who registered their weapons after the expiration of the registration period. Its a long story, but the end result is that once this became known, there was such an outcry that they realized they had some very serious Constitutional problems (including serious 4th and 5th Amendment concerns) with seizing property from those who had done no wrong except to own proscribed weaponry.

The bastards got what they wanted, though - a ban on retail sale of certain rifles like the AR 15 - and a ban on passing these guns on to relatives an inheritance items. Theoretically, if one registered an AW, then dies, the gun is to be turned in to the DOJ. As far as I can tell, no one has turned in any AR's, nor have any been seized.

The whole registry was a bust; only 20,000 or so guns were registered, mostly by law enforcement personnel, since the cops were not exempt from registering their own personal rifles. The legislature subsequently passed an exemption period in which cops could buy an AR (and register it); I think the exemption period is over.

So now, no one can legally obtain (or bring into the state) any of the myriad weapons listed as AW's; there are legal alternatives, however. Both the AR and FAL types are now available (legally) with fixed ten-round magazines, loading from stripper clips. The former is called the FAB 10, and is manufactured by a machine shop near Oroville, CA; the latter is made by DSA Arms, from Barrington, Illinois! That should be interesting!

That could be interesting because DSA will also have to pack up & move if this passes

Like I said above, I may move to Indiana, i lived there before, I had concealed carry, i loved it, my main problem is now I also own farmland, which is hard to move

Of course, I could just transfer my inventory of banned items from my business to my "personal collection", then store it at a buddy's house in West Terre Haute

I'd hate to be seperated from my FAL coyote / varmint rifle, though
