WASHINGTON - Former Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, D-N.Y., is in critical condition at a Washington area hospital, suffering from an infection after his appendix burst, his assistant said Monday.
Moynihan, who turned 76 on Sunday, is in the intensive care unit of the Washington Hospital Center, said Vicki Bear Dodson. His appendix ruptured last Monday.
"He was doing well until late Thursday, early Friday, when an infection set in," said Dodson. "Unfortunately, there's been no change in his condition over the weekend."
Moynihan has suffered a series of health setbacks in recent months. He was hospitalized in January for an intestinal disorder and again soon after for a back injury.
Now a senior scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center, Moynihan was first elected to the Senate in 1976 and finished his fourth term in 2000. Fellow legislators named Manhattan's new federal courthouse in his honor.

Agreed. Moynihan has my respect, and is one of very few living Democrats who does. I would have agreed with you five years ago, but Moynihan lost every shred of my respect when he voted to acquit X-42.
I predicted at the time that the impeachment of Bill Clinton would forever divide humanity into two distinct groups, and boy, was I right about that one. Nothing Moynihan ever did before that, and nothing he does after that, will ever allow him to overcome his one botched opportunity to take a principled stand.

Moynihan standing up for the United States in the UN will always be appreciated. His analysis of the bad effects of family breakdown is accurate. He could always be counted on to provide a good term for our problems ("defining deviancy down").
BUT that is the extent of his contributions.
He could never bring himself to vote in line with his publicly expressed convictions. The Democrats could always count on his vote. He was one of the worst of the gun grabbers (in deed, but not necessarily in rhetoric).

Sara Brady's husband was a good Republican until he suffered head injuries serious enough to turn him into a Democrat.

Enemies are enemies. Hitler undoubtedly loved his mother and Benito M. made the trains run on time. I'd rather have late trains. Moynihan, Clinton Schumer all all enemies of every freedom loving citizen of the USA.

Ya, but there's both the denotative meaning that you gave and the connotative meaning that most think of when they read. Besides, you said "ass", too. LOL

I would have agreed with you five years ago, but Moynihan lost every shred of my respect when he voted to acquit X-42.Couldn't agree more. And if there was any doubt, he followed that by supporting Hillary for Senate. I do, however, certainly hope that he recovers his health.

Well, when you get your ideologicaly pure nation in place, give me a call. Until then, I'll have to try to work with the flawed Dems that we have on hand, and not day-dream if the day when every representative has their heads on straight.
To: graycamel
Oooops I didn't even notice I said that.
OK, I'll be more proper.

That's because you are a total ass. Like I care what your half witted opinion is.
You have quite the posting history to support my conclusion.
I have to say that I haven't the slightest recollection of anything that you've written.

Moynihan is the last of the Good Democrats. He was an advisary, but he loved America in his way.
The current Rat senators, congressits, governors, mayors and on down the line, hate America and work 24/7 to weaken it.

But to wish that beast on the State of N.Y. I guess he didn't believe she would win :( That must be the case, he didn't think she would win.
And a lot of people didn't see that the dem party had changed, and has been taken over by true socialists. He was probably one of those who just didn't see the signs.
He was no match for those marxist thugs, the clintoons.
