Some councils are refusing to hand out the traditional treats because they fear that the symbol of the cross will spark complaints from Jewish, Hindu and Muslim pupils or their families.

"We are in favour of diversity " So we'll ban the buns. Fewer choices means diversity. Yeah.

Why oh why do we worry about offending someone. If someone is offended by anothers religious symbols, it is not the fault of the symbol, it is intolerance on the part of the offendee.
If I claim I am offended by someones skin color, or ethnicity, should I be accomodated? Of course not, it would be my problem to resolve within myself. This is no different.

I am offended by islamic women wearing veils. Will the government order them to remove the veils to accomodate me? I think not.
Seems to me a food item with a symbol on it is less deadly than the subjugation of all islamic women.

They will have to ban croisants as well. They were originally made by Vienese bakers to celebrate their victory of the Muslim Turks.

You really should read further into the story to see what the muslim reaction to this is.

Welcome to FR.
You right, it has to end, but I am afraid that it won't happen in my lifetime.
Again, welcome, and thank you for your service.

Bagels, anyone?

This is totally ridiculous. I never read into "hot cross buns" so much as an inkling of any religious relationship.
Besides, my own church does not have a steeple, nor a cross on top, because that would indicate worldiness, maybe even idolotry, but most certainly a failure to GIVE TO THE POOR or GO INTO THE WORLD AND BEAR WITNESS!
The absence of buns with or without crosses in English schools offends me as a Christian!
It's possible the Anglicans finally got this one correct.

Croissants are "crescent rolls" and should be banned as well.

Karnak the Magnificent: "Hot cross buns."
Ed ( reaffirms it ): "Hot cross buns."
Karnack ( opens the envelope, reads the card ): "What do you get when you sit on a hot cross?"
