Tony Blair is ready to sack Cabiet rebels Robin Cook and Claire Short within the next 48 hours if they do not fall into line on Iraq.
The Prime Minister met with all available Cabinet members individually yesterday to demand that they pledge their loyalty to him and express their support for military action.
He is determined to deny his outspoken critics-and any other wavering ministers-theopportunity to resign at a time of their own choosing to maximize their impact.
Leader of the House Mr. Cook was in Belgrade for the funeral of assassinated Serbian Prime MInister Zoran Djindjic yesterday- and many colleagues believe it could be his last official engagement.

Didn't they both threaten to quit if the UK went to war? Looks like Tony is going to call their bluff and can them.
Good for Tony.

They can wear their pink slips to the peacenik rallies. Everyone else there is wearing pink.

Wavering Tony has found something to stand behind in his second term. I thank him for the support - I would have never expected it, much less for him to be with us from the very start. He knows how friendships and alliances are kept.

Tony is NOT going wobbly, that's for sure.
I still can't figure out what in hell Blix was talking about when he said they were divided. Is that man from another universe?

Tony needs to force them to commit to supporting the troops and official policy or to resign by the end of tomorrow. I'd prefer he just sack them so they can't run about like some noble sacrificial lambs. They're required to support their PM. They won't so fire 'em and send 'em to the back benches.

YES!
Whatever happened to all the great photoshop jobs we had floating around of Bush & Blair together after 9/11? We need to get those back into circulation, or make some new ones. I'm having trouble finding any of them, and I especially want the MIB "Mr Bush/Mr. Blair" graphic.

Looks like the UK is cleaning house. We should do the same thing. To pull that off here, Karl Rove would have to call in a bomb threat to the State Department, and then send in the wrecking ball while everyone was moping around out on the sidewalk.
