Top of the hour (1:00 pm EST 3/15/03) ABC Radio News is reporting that U.S. Troops in the Persian Gulf have been given the go date for hostilities against Iraq to start. It is reported that ground and air troops are to go to war at the same time. The ABC source said that G-day (Go Day) has been communicated to all allied troops in the area.
I'm searching news wires for more confirmation......

I'm quite sure that the troops have not been given the "go date." They were probably just told on what day and at what hour the war would start.
Oliver North was on the FoxNews last night and he told Hannity & Colmes that we would be astonished at how fast the ground troops would get moving after the air war starts. Though it can be argued that the air war has started already.
North says that he intends to broadcast (for FoxNews) from a liberated Baghdad once the BREW DALL dictator has been removed.

Boy I think I'm going to celebrate with a couple of brews when that BREW DALL dictator is history.

This report is a transparent attempt to damage Bush politically.
They are bent on capitalizing on the adminstrations apperance of policy goals dictated by the mob.
What saddens me is that this ploy comes at the expense of troop morale.
Please don't assist in this process by informing your loved ones who are in-theater of this announcement. Delays are already taking their toll on morale and generating renewed false hopes of a quick trip home through Baghdad isn't going to help.

It's possible. We are about to see the end result of 64 years of evolution from the first Blitzkrieg across Poland. All reports say the word from the military is that this campaign will be nothing at all like '91 and will be intended to create shock and awe. What they don't say is that that shock and awe is intended to be felt in Beijing, Tehran, Havana, and Pyongyang as well.

The only "date" in question, is the one the media reports. Semantically, the war starts when the media says it does.
Then there is the reality of when things actually start...
Saddam is a Lobster. We have him in a big pot, called Iraq. We've filled it with cold water. He was happy as a clam... er, uh, lobster. A few weeks ago, we turned on the heat.
Its Saddam's turn (or the media's, your choice) to announce when the temp is too hot. Makes not one iota of difference to the military - yesterday, today, a month from now... who cares?

I agree. The media is going to report anything it can get its hands on. The looselipped SOBs that have clearance are running their mouth and should be arrested and prosecuted.

Yoy know what? I am getting tired of all you Loose Lips crowd. There isn't one iota of classified info posted here yet you folks always start with the LLSS BS everytime someone post what is in the news. Call ABC or CNN or whoever else makes these news reports. If it's being reported then it is most probably meant to be reported and higher ups in the military probably ok'd it. Don't shoot the messenger. ABC broadcast this not me.
To: grahm_crackers
Yeah, but the the Loose Lips crowd likes feeling important and self-righteous.

You know I agree with the LLSS policy as a whole, but these guys spout it on just about every news story regarding the military. Now, if I had said that my brother was in Kuwait and he e-mailed me that war was starting at 9pm tomorrow night they would have every right to jump on me and him. But when they spout it on every CNN,ABC,BBC,NYT story it just gets old.

Oh boy that's a force to reckon with. That many soldiers didn't come for a tea party.
