This is just a tiny bit of the firepower being arrayed against Iraq. And these guys are just hanging out. But it still looks darned intimidating. Wow.

Devil Dogs en route

MARCH AIR RESERVE BASE, Calif. -- Marines from Camp Pendleton, Calif. board a 747-400 to leave for an undisclosed destination supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Like Westover ARB, Mass., on the east coast, March ARB serves as an air bridge for U.S. troops deploying to the Middle East. (Photo by Senior Airman Jorge Rodriguez)

And another one:

US army infantry soldiers continue their combat drills in the desert outside Kuwait City, March 12, 2003. Seeking crucial votes on a divided U.N. Security Council, Britain and the United States suggested Iraq (news - web sites) could be given a few more days to prove it had disarmed -- slightly delaying the deadline for war. It's probably what we used to call a "Mass Mosey". Absolutely the best way to drill in hot weather.

U.S. marines with their combat gear wait for exercises to begin in the desert in northern Kuwait near the border with Iraq (news - web sites) March 14, 2003. With the U.N. Security Council unable to reach agreement on a resolution authorizing military action in Iraq, the United States, Britain and Spain may abandon a vote altogether rather than face rejection.
