[history]
With public debate over war in Iraq at a critical stage, a federal appeals court today made it clear that California transportation officials cannot allow the American flag on highway overpasses without also allowing anti-war protesters and others to post signs bearing political messages.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Someone stop me before I puke myself to death with laughter!
Thank God I don't live in California and don't have to deal with all of the nonsense that the 9th Court spews out on a regular basis.
First of all, the American flag is the symbol of our country, nothing more and nothing less. It does not represent a pro-war standing, it does not represent George W. Bush. Our flag represents our country, no matter what the prevailing attitudes are or who is currently leading it. By ordering that flags cannot be flown unless "balanced" by anti-war placards, the 9th Court has grossly misconstrued the meaning of our flag. Where, exactly, do these people get off saying that Old Glory is an unacceptable (one-sided) display and not suitable to be flown in public?! What's next, no flags over state capitols without an accompanying message of anti-Americansim? What a load of crap!
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals: as far from American (read: Constitutional) as you can get before you start coming back.

``The principles can survive only by allowing the voice of dissent to be heard.''The word dissent is equal to truth with these people. Egads.

So will all government buildings in CA now also be required to place antiwar signs next to the flag?

Nope, not really. They provide more and more evidence of their treachery everyday, don't they? Sigh...

Let me see if I understand this ruling... If there is an American flag on a flagpole on any government property, then anyone has the right to fly their banner on the same flagpole alongside the American flag.
To: NormsRevenge
Put 'em up anyway. The 9th needs civil disobedience.

Does this mean we can raise a flag on their courthouse stating, "This Court is a Joke".

I think you're right. They better start with posting anti-war crap up at every post office ASAP. You know, for the principles to survive and stuff.

America was founded as a refuge from Europe for individuals who valued personal freedom and liberty and a love of God.
Those common values were its origins.
Subsequently, people came to America, raised children, who grew up fat, lazy and full of hatred for this country essentially because of what it stands for.
These people, referred to as Californians, do not believe in American values and principles. They instead burn the American flag, equate it to propaganda, lie, cheat and desecrate the graves of their forefathers who died defending freedom, justice and liberty.
It is entirely possible that they don't fit into our country's values and beliefs.
Therefore, they should be escorted to the nearest border.
Anyone who doesn't understand this is a navel-contemplating fool, i.e. useful idiot for the enemies of America.
Yes, it is that simple. Being morally confused is being morally incompetent.
yeah california is bad. especially cal state fresno and stanfUrd.
you never see stories about bad things in any other states.

Note that the case does NOT involve the government putting up the flags. Apparently the state has a rule:
"If you, as a citizen, want to put a flag on government property overpasses -- no permit.
But, if you want to put up anything else, pro-Bush or anti-Bush, you need a permit."
So, ruling is not completely crazy. Solution is for government to put up flags on all such locations.

Don't tar all of us with that brush.
My house has a big sign that says:
Save BILLIONS of lives
Stop Saddam NOW!
and I live on a San José main drag...

They actually believe this stuff they get fed from CNN and other propaganda networks.

Ahh, the 9th Circus again, tripping over their droppings.

I guess the flags over the state capital must now provide equal time to every one who want to fly something else. Can anyone tell me how this court can even tie their shoes ?
