Just heard that one senator changed his vote from yes to the ban to NO......anyone know who it was?
To: hellinahandcart
Here's why Kerry didn't vote today (from
Boston Globe Online:)
Kerry is setting a fast pace in fund-raising sweep
Presidential contender trying to score big for March finance report
By Glen Johnson, Globe Staff, 3/13/2003
Senator John F. Kerry is pushing a financial vacuum cleaner across the country this week, collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars for his presidential campaign at major fund-raisers in New York, San Francisco, and Boston.
A fund-raiser last night at the Sheraton Boston Hotel grossed more than $2 million, according to organizers, which the campaign said was a record amount raised in a single night from donations by individuals.
* * * Tomorrow, Kerry returns to California for the second time in two weeks, for another big fund-raiser at a hotel in downtown San Francisco.

Joe Lieberman is, in Ann Coulter's inmortal words, a member of the World's smallest club, "Orthodox Jews for Partial-Birth Abortion."

The Durbin amendment was tabled, with 60 votes in favor of tabling the amendment. The 60 votes includes most of those who supported final passage of the PBA ban, but also votes from some Senators who are so pro-abortion (Hillary, Murray, Boxer, etc.) that they couldn't support even a sham late-term abortion ban.

You pretty much "shot your wad" in 164 so to speak with me. Plus, I'm running jobs right now and only checking in when I'm not having to fix things. I have a deadline and another project to finish today. All of this means that somebody else will need to 'splain it to you.

Here's the list of those who voted against the real partial-birth abortion ban during the past 48 hours. It includes the 33 Senators (29 Dems, 3 RINOs and 1 Independent Traitor) who voted against final passage of the PBA ban, the 11 Senators (10 Dems and 1 SpecteRINO) who voted for final passage of the PBA ban but who yesterday voted against tabling Durbin's sham "substitute bill" (which includes a "health-of-the-mother" loophole large enough to drive a Mack truck through) and that most weasely of characters, John Edwards, who voted against tabling the sham substitute and then was conveniently absent from the vote on final passage of the PBA ban. The 12 who voted for the sham substitute but did not vote against final passage of the PBA ban are marked with two asterisks (**). To these 45 names one must add Joe Biden (D-DE) and John Kerry (D-MA), who were absent from both votes but whose pro-abortion record leaves no doubt they would have voted the wrong way on one or both of these bills. So there are 47 U.S. Senators (42 of the 48 Dem Senators, 4 of the 51 Republican Senators, and the sole Independent Senator) who do not believe that partial-birth abortion should be banned in all cases except when the life of the mother is at risk. Here's the Hall of Shame:
Akaka (D-HI)
Baucus (D-MT)
Bayh (D-IN) **
Bingaman (D-NM)
Boxer (D-CA)
Byrd (D-WV) **
Cantwell (D-WA)

The 53 Senators (47 of the 51 Republican Senators and just 6 of the 48 Democrat Senators) who voted for the real PBA ban and never tried to substitute it for a sham ban are the following:
Alexander (R-TN)

Gee, you think Dorgan and Hollings are up for re-election next year? Dorgan even got Conrad to vote the right way to make sure that North Dakotans didn't get confused (the two have been joined at the hip since the 1970s).

Thanks - I saw the update in post 65. I mistakenly read the results of a separate roll call that was taken yesterday. Glad to see she voted for the ban.

Chafee, Collins, and Snow.prove themselves unworthy of their senate seats yet again.
I say let's exchange Chafee for John Breaux for starters.

If th child is viable outside of the womb, then to kill it is murder. Is it "murder" to abort a child that will be viable next week?
I always wonder about that stand as in reality a full term new born is not really "viable" it need some one to feed it or it will die..
To: AuH2ORepublican
The Durbin amendment was tabled Thanks, so very much, for letting me know it was tabled....I've been searching and couldn't find out any info on that.....I concluded it must have been when I realized Santorum actually did vote for passage of this Bill....he otherwise stated he wouldn't if Durbin passed.....
