Woman flees after running over husband
By: ERIC ERVIN, Citizen Staff March 12, 2003
Webster Police investigators are looking for a Texas City woman who hit her estranged husband with her car after confronting him and his female companion in a local apartment complex parking lot.
Miacona Charles Dickerson, 29, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from the incident early Sunday, when she hit Clifton Leroy Dickerson, 29, after stabbing him with a 5-inch blade knife.
At about 2:30 a.m., the suspect pulled into the parking lot of the Baystone Apartments, 800 NASA Road 1, to confront her estranged husband.
According to police, the couple has been separated for six months.
An argument quickly erupted when the victim approached his wife and struck up a conversation with her. Miacona Dickerson pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim on his lower arm, Webster Police Capt. Ray Smiley said.
"She stabbed him pretty hard because the blade broke off," Smiley said.
The suspect then drove her vehicle northbound on the parking lot driveway, made a U-turn and drove back southbound towards Leroy Dickerson, who was standing in the driveway.
When the victim tried to run, the suspect hit him with her car. Smiley said police investigators didn't find any skid marks in the parking lot indicating that Miacona Dickerson had braked before hitting her husband.
"She was accelerating," Smiley said. "This was done intentionally." After hitting her husband, the suspect continued out onto NASA Road 1 and fled the scene. Police think she may surrender.
Leroy Dickerson was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital. He sustained injuries to his arm and leg, including lacerations from the knife on his lower arm and a compound fracture of his leg. His injuries were believed to not be life threatening.
The suspect's 1996 Ford Taurus was found late Sunday in the 1100 block of Park Land in Texas City.
The incident is the latest of three cases in the Houston area where women have used vehicles as weapons against their husbands, but Smiley said he wouldn't characterize the case as a Clara Harris copy-cat crime.
"This woman was upset, mad, and sitting in her car with a weapon in her hand. I don't think she thought about Clara Harris at the time," Smiley said.
On Feb. 23, ten days after a Harris County jury found Clara Harris guilty of murder for running over her husband, Renne Fowler-Reents of Liberty County was charged with misdemeanor family-violence assault after running her husband down outside a Hardin convenience store.

This is getting wierd. First the Channelview cheerleader mom case, then Andrea Yates drowns her five children in a house off of Bay Area Blvd., then the Clara Harris case, now this. The last three are all within a few miles of each other. What is it--the pollution from the refineries?

"She stabbed him pretty hard because the blade broke off," Smiley said. It's hard to argue with that. I hope it was Ginsu Knife and she can get her money back if not satisfied.

Gonna' have to start banning Mercedes Benz and Ford Torus'. Obviously these have become "weaponized" in domestic disputes. Maybe even require "Throttle Locks" durin' a D-I-V-O-R-C-E.

Too strange. She stabs him in the arm and then . . .
