Heard the DJ on the local country music station here in Atlanta discussing the comments made by the Dixie Chicks during their concert Saturday night in London. They 'reportedly' made the comment that they're "ashamed that Bush is from Texas" among other things.
Did a little digging and found the referenced thread on the Hollywood Halfwits page. Since I couldn't find any sign of it here on FR, I thought I'd see if anyone else had heard/knew more about it?
Speaking only for myself, I'm ashamed the Dixie Chicks are from America.

They have got to be kidding. Do they think it is the unwashed peace protestniks who provide their record sales?

I always thought they were rather plain and homely.
And their music is only so-so.

My wife likes the Dixie Shits ... I'm ambivalent. Having read the latest ... all their CD's in this home/auto etc., are gone ... in the trash gone. My wife throws out my stuff all the time ... I'm throwing out the Dixie Shits! Know what ... my wife agrees!

My favorite song was, "Tonight, the heartaches on me". How true.....! The CD, just went out with the trash. I will have to awaken early tomorrow, curious as to what Imus will say about them.

Hey Chix! Can you say Ouch? This should really cut into your conservative demographics, which should translate into hundreds of thousands of dollars of lost sales revenue. Remember, when you can't say anything nice- zip it! We don't care about your liberal politics unless YOU make it an issue. Big mistake!

I have 5 Dixie Chicks songs on my computer- all of them downloaded illegally from the web. I will play them often, laughing gleefully every time knowing I have stolen some music from them. :-D

This doesn't change my musical buying habits - never have and never will buy anything the "Dixie Ditz" sell.

If they want to trash the president and join the anti-war crowd, I suggest they move to Hollywood and the pop/rock celebrity pundits, because they will never find welcome in the country music culture.
I have just published an article on Capto Veritas detailing the statements of Natalie Maines and the backlash:
'Chicks trash Bush, fans fight back

I posted this earlier on the "other" Dixie Tricks thread. (I knew they were up to no good back when the lended their "Wide Open Spaces" song to the Environmental Defense Fund).
As a West Texan, I have heard that the Dixie Chicks' manager lives in Lubbock. Additionally, Natalie Maines is from Lubbock, and her entire huge family lives in Lubbock. Her dad, Lloyd, just produced "Home," their latest CD, and he lives in Lubbock. In fact, her uncle, Kenny Maines, is a Republican county commissioner. His wife, Sharon Maines, is the anchorette on the Lubbock NBC affiliate, KCBD. Basically, the Maines Bros. ("the boys in Lubbock"?) Band is how Natalie learned music. FReepers nationwide may want to get her family's attention (I'm sure they still exert some influence and can slap her back into reality), by writing letters to the editor at the Lubbock Avalanche Journal: www.lubbockonline.com

Ok I went to their web site and emailed them a toek of my appreciation... here's the text.
"If you don't care about your country or those who fight for it then I would think you'd at least care about your careers. In a business that relies on the continued monetary support of people like me, my family, and my friends you just made a very costly business mistake. You can think whatever you want about the country that pays your way and the people who defend your right to think it. But when you publicly offend what I would have to think is most of your fan base then you need to remember that you were selected not elected by us. Your fans have rights too and one is the right to withdraw our financial support anytime you give us reason to... and you just did. Bad business move girls."

If they are ashamed their President is from Texas, nobody is forcing them to live in the United States. Oh, they made their money here I forgot.

Use
THIS LINK to send a message to Unliver (Lipton's Corps HQ) that you "Will not use nor purchase any Unliver Products until they stop all support of the Dixie Chicks."
BTW the "Dixie" Chicks should change their name to the "French Bitches." Or "Clinton's Gnew-kneepads."

This is just sad. I haven't been a HUGE fan of the Dixie Chicks, but some of their music is OK. I haven't spent any money on any of their CDs though...thank goodness.
I was actually going to buy their new CD "Home" because of the "Traveling Soldier" song. I'll spend my money elsewhere now.
