The other night, at their opening for their tour in London, they indicated on stage that they were sad to know/hear that our President was from Texas. Again, it is sad to see and hear yet another "celebrity" announcing that they are ashamed of their President of their Unites States. I just wish we would get over and get back so that these "celebrities" would quit using all of these Grammy, Emmy, own concert "stages" to provide their political saitre.

funny thing is they did it to appeal to their fans. these people are so damn calculated. it is always about them. to hell with the country, natalie needs to move product to make up for her husband's lack of a career.
she has no idea who her fans are, but she is about to discover that the whackos out in the street protesting bush, and the socialists in the british and american media would sooner watch chuck norris movies than listen to her music.
it was funny to see them accept their award at the grammys with natalie's father and during the acceptance speech the camera flashed to peter gabriel who had a look of utter disgust on his face. he looked like he thought they were a band of nascar fans who make music for nascar fans. people who hail from middle america ,what some lefty writer whose name escapes me, called "a desert of bigots." gabriel and other euro-socialists don't hate texas because of george bush, they hate george bush because of texas. i suspect they hate texas for the same reasons that natalie maines loves it.
she was trying to appease the anti-americans. unfortuantely she is not a tough enough chick to say, "screw you, i love my country." by the way, the British prime minister is standing shoulder to shoulder with our president. the brit media has been vicious to him as well. both blair and dubya are hated by the french, is she aware of this? probably not. btw, any britons going to see the dixie chicks are probably pretty gung ho america.
this is the old insecure southern girl who gets famous, but is still treated like trailer trash at the hollywood shindigs. it's southern guilt and insecurity. she wants them to think she is smart and progressive. price for the liberal elites to love her= checking her identity at the door. also, adrian pasdar is her husband? might he be arabic or french?
my problem is not with dissent. but the location and quality of dissent is important. ms. maines has no clue about the complexities of the issues and would have been well advised to stick to singing. i think this will forever estrange her from the large majority of her fans who have an organic love of country and righteous contempt for those who trash our country abroad.
also, it seems like a shallow, thoughtless statemnt. say what you want about sarandon, but she is committed to her beliefs and has been in the leftist movement for a long time. maines is an opportunist who has absolutely misread the political landscape.
if, god forbid, the war is less than successful, she will still be villified. hanoi jane is still hated. maines might even fare worse if the war, God forbid, goes bad. this was a suicidal act and she has just made her and her bandmates radioactive.

What quotes that were
not used in the Guardian review seems as interesting as those that were. Maines' "ashamed" quote is the only Bush/war related quote used in that review. How do we know the Chicks weren't
joking?

If they are ashamed their President is from Texas, nobody is forcing them to live in the United States. Oh, they made their money here I forgot.

Use
THIS LINK to send a message to Unliver (Lipton's Corps HQ) that you "Will not use nor purchase any Unliver Products until they stop all support of the Dixie Chicks."
BTW the "Dixie" Chicks should change their name to the "French Bitches." Or "Clinton's Gnew-kneepads."

I can see it now. Everytime one of these liberal USA bashing entertainers returns home they are greeted at the airport with protest signs telling them to 'whatever'. They should be spat on when they return. Treat them the same way their ilk treated our soldiers returning from Vietnam.

I'll go to one when it's close by. What if the stupid C's were hijacked into the Atlantic. I, for one, would feel bad about NOT feeling bad.....

This is just sad. I haven't been a HUGE fan of the Dixie Chicks, but some of their music is OK. I haven't spent any money on any of their CDs though...thank goodness.
I was actually going to buy their new CD "Home" because of the "Traveling Soldier" song. I'll spend my money elsewhere now.

Traveling Soldier is GREAT. I will miss them, but as an American and a Vietnam Vet, they are now on my No-No List.
