Peacenik Garofalo Upset at Harassment, May Quit Protesting

Antiwar activist Janeane Garofalo announced Monday that she may quit protesting U.S. plans to make war on Iraq, saying she's being harassed and complaining that Hollywood leftists who speak out don't get enough respect.

Addressing a panel on media coverage of the war in Manhattan, the comedienne-turned-foreign policy expert said that she may "just bow out for the rest of my life," according to New York's Newsday. Garofalo complained that she's had to change her home phone number after getting several harassing calls.

The bespectacled Bush basher blames the media, which she said ridicules antiwar actors "as a way to trivialize" the concerns of those who oppose the war. [Garofalo herself, however, admitted two weeks ago that the peace movement stayed dormant during U.S. troop deployments in the 1990's because "it wasn't hip" to protest President Clinton.]

Fellow panelist William McGowan, author of "Coloring the News: How Political Correctness Has Corrupted American Journalism," disagreed. He said antiwar activists are belittled because of their "silly, vacuous slogans."

Poor baby, she's not getting the respect she thinks she deserves. Mabey if you and your liberal Hollywood idiots extended some of that respect to President Bush, then people wouldn't be so upset with you.

It's one thing to be anti-war and it's another to attack a sitting president who is on the brink of war. I'm just glad we won't be hearing from you anymore!!! HA HA....

This is horrible, just terrible. Well, it would be if I had ever heard of Janeane Garofalo before this. Some people should just get over their presumed importance. And she wasn't even a human shield!

That's the smartest decision Garofalo has ever made. Now if only Martin Sheen and Mike Farrell would follow suit.

...Celebrities should be seen, not listened to, especially on matters far beyond their comprehension. Like foreign policy. Just ask Rapper Kid Rock.

Hollywood leftists who speak out don't get enough respect.

Heard the same crap on a local radio talk show - "the anti-Bush voice doesn't get enough time on the air".

Fortunately, the talk show host shot that talking point down - in flames...

Great news! Stick a sock in it Barfolo!

I hope she doesn't bow out of politics.

Considering how Brian Kilmeade of Fox & Friends dismembered her about her Iraq activism, it would be great if she continued to be the voice of the appeasement left & the Dems.

Hope she campaigns for the Dem nominee in the '04 presidential election. It would help the GOP.

I wonder, is it hip to bow out? Maybe she's riding the leading edge of a trend.

He said antiwar activists are belittled because of their "silly, vacuous slogans."

In other words, if they had better slogans, no one would criticize them.  I suppose
this guy thinks the Democrats lost in 2002 because they couldn't get their messge out, too.

Amen to that. I mean, really, "No blood for oil"? "Bomb Bush Not Iraq"? Give me a break.

I'm looking in my crystal ball for a new silly and vacuous anti-war slogan.

complaining that Hollywood leftists who speak out don't get enough respect.

On the contrary!! They get all the respect they deserve!! The right to free speech does not include a clause guaranteeing a right to respect. Respect must be earned by the individual exercising her right to free speech based on the content of what she is saying.

That, in a nutshell, is what the left has never learned.

Let me say this in a way that should make the talentless hack Garofalo feel all warm and fuzzy and nostalgic...

"Put some ice on it, baby!"

There, now don't you feel like you are in the 90's again?

Now for how I want to say it...

"Die!!! Get in the Coffin!!!"

I thought that the harassment was her harassing us. Her dogface was on every channel this past weekend, and her arguments were as stale as her comedy routine.
