San Francisco -- Saturday's anti-war demonstration in San Francisco will send protesters on a different route from the one followed in past peace events, organizers said Monday.
Activists are asking people to meet at 11 a.m. in Civic Center, then march to Jefferson Square Park near the corner of Turk and Gough streets, said Bill Hackwell, an organizer with International Answer, one of the main coordinators of the event.

I know this isn't going to happen in those neighborhoods, but it would be so cool if everyone put out their American flag along this route.

here is a plea: President Bush, start the war on saturday while they are doing this, so the audience will be glued to the TV set and we can show how ineffective and wrong they are.

former Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga Oh, I do like the sound of that!
By the way, since she's no longer in Congress, is she still a D-GA, or is she a WhoKnows-Don'tCare?

She may change. The Green Party wants her to join their party so bad they can taste it.

Are there any banks, Starbucks, or INS offices for them to vandalize on their way to the pro-Saddam/pro-Palestinian-war/anti-Bush rally?

Off topic, but is the US Green Party affiliated with the international Green Party? Is this permissible since we do not allow foreign contributions to our elections?

Different route planned for anti-war march (SAN FRANCISCO)
New route insures a Starbucks every 200 feet versus original, less Frappucino dense route.

I imagine the guesstimators are already practicing to over-estimate the number of participants.

That area is mostly Hayes Valley, which is like a mini version of the Haight.
Far out, deja vu all over again....

"This could be people's last chance to protest before a war starts," Hackwell said. And assuming some of these people actually work during the week, this could also be their last chance to protest the war before its over.

My son lives right above that sign on the corner of Haight and Ashbury. Fortunately, he has short hair, no tatoos, no body piercings, and a nice girlfriend.
