My big problem with Buchanan is that he had no problem staying on that loser Nixon's team
He was right there in China with Nixon and Kissinger helping drag China out of the backwaters into the main world

All that after ranting about the evils of communism for years

"Patriot with a good soul? I think he is an anti-semetic bigot, how does that make him a patriot?"

Well, the question I ask in these instances is: Would I trust him/her to raise my children. In the case of Pat, I would. In the case of Clinton, for example, I would not.

That assumes that he would not indoctrinate my progeny with his endless difficulty with Jews and Israel. Perhaps a tall order. I hope not.

Hitler was a "patriotic" German, but a moron. Pat is not a Patriot. His ideas would end this country. He is a big mouth fool who is full of himself. He has no place in the conservative movement. He is a better fit for the Dems.

Pat like Arianna seeks and basks the light of publicity. They feed off it. He is just another wannabe spotlight hunter who is an embarrassment to himself.

Pat belongs in the Europe of the left wing anti semitic trash not America.

My definition of "patriot" is NOT someone who tells us we should have minded our own business during World War II.

Pat said this? When?

Pat has John Sweeney's domestic agenda, George McGovern's foreign policy agenda, and Huey Long's delivery.

I guess we should be glad Pat doesn't have Elton John's domestic agenda, George Michael's foreign policy, and Huey Lewis' delivery.

Seriously though, is McGovern like the New Patron Saint of the Dem Party right now, or what? Talk about self-mutilation...

It was one of the central messages in his book A Republic Not An Empire.

I've read A Republic Not an Empire, and I remember he wrote that WWII was avoidable, but that once we were attacked, we had no choice but to enter the war. I don't remember his saying we should have minded our own business. Could you tell me where he said this?

I know he talked about the foolishness of the war guarantees Britain made to Poland, which had the effect (his theory) of turning German attention to the Brits instead of the Soviet Union. He opined that it would have been better to let the Communists and Nazis beat each other up, and let GB better prepare itself to clean up the remnants of whichever dictator was left. It may also have had the effect of avoiding the pounding London and the rest of England took.

I don't necessarily agree with that view, but I don't think that it implies any sort of support for Germany or Hitler, as many on here claim (hopefully you are above that).
