200 years? Nonsense. The U.S. has given out soldiers' pensions since at least 1865, and possibly even prior to that date.

As of 1904, veteran pensions (aka welfare for Blue vets) constituted the largest single item in the Federal budget.

Or do you equate the slacker mentality with that of men/women who've served in our armed forces honorably & possibly been wounded in said service?
