Drudge has this link up on his site; seems to be mixing two munition types in his headlines. One links to the new and improved daisy cutter. This one is about the next generation PGM penetrators. Good read if you like these kinds of articles

It will be guided to targets by satellite and will sport a cobalt-alloy penetratingwarhead that allows the bomb to dive up to 100 feet below the surface beforedetonating. The bombs are so big that it will take a B-2 bomber to carry one of them, we are told. Three Big BLUs have been ordered by the Air Force on an urgent basis.

Sounds like they have Saddam's location pinned down to three places. Say hello to BIG BLU Saddam.

I wonder what happens if you drop all 3 at once in a triangle configuation? Perhaps the intersecting shock waves are more distructive?

Just a thought.

Re#5 From another thread:

"-- Small Diameter Bomb (SDB), which is like JDAM but which weighs only 250 pounds. The advantage, Butler said, is that a bomber can carry a huge load, and each bomb is individually guided. "A pattern of eight 250-pound bombs more efficiently couples the energy to the target without...having a footprint that could create collateral damage."

Bump me if you want to be flagged to the thread. It talks about a bunch of munitions....

You've been flagged to the other thread. Afterwards, I thought I'd also suggest you visit www.fas.org. It is an amazing place--click on the U.S. Military/Conventional Weapons links and take a tour. Lots of info. Will make you glad they are ours....
