[history]
Reports are circulating that President Bush intends to divide a post-Saddam Iraq into three sectors: north, south and central. Two retired U.S. generals would separately administer the north and south while the central sector, including Baghdad, would be overseen by a woman: Barbara Bodine, a former ambassador to Yemen.

Actually, under eeeeeeeeeevil Saddam, women in Iraq are a lot better off than women in Saudi or Kuwait. They are even allowed to drive cars, walk on the streets alone and use makeup.

So, just because she is a woman, you think that she should not be there. That strikes me as extremely sexist. It depends upon how it's sold to the people of Iraq and how visible she is. If she's going to be making speeches to them on a regular basis then I think it's a mistake.

Saddam has been forced into it. He has sacrificed more than fifteen percent of the male population of his nation to misguided wars in Iran and Kuwait.

STATEMENT: "A Woman to Replace Saddam."
RESPONSE:This is ok as long as she is a lesbian Zoroastrian.

It depends upon how it's sold to the people of Iraq and how visible she is. If she's going to be making speeches to them on a regular basis then I think it's a mistake. It is that kind of thinking that has allowed this system of repression of females in the middle east to continue. Please don't bring up the subject, it might offend someone. Well so what?
The middle east will never make progress when 50% of it's population is enslaved.
Why bother to fight this war, if we think the women should still be kept hidden. I am outraged by this attitude.

I think we ought to send Hillary! over there. It would be a win-win situation. Iraq needs a strong woman lesbian with an attitude and the ability to make men shrivel at her presence. She would be able to rule over a country. Would there be any cons to this?

All things in due time. Just how many centuries? Enough is enough.
I believe that one of the most important aspects of the whole terroism fight, is the liberation of women. You obviously like the status quo.

PEOPLE, the only argument I keep seeing is that "the Arabs won't stand for a female leader" "what is President Bush thinking" "what's best for him isn't best for the middle east" The Iraqi's and the Arab news don't seem to disagree with her...

Isn't Bodine the one who interfered with the
FBI's investigation on the ground in Yemen into the attack on the Cole?
To: w1andsodidwe
You obviously like the status quo.You would be wrong about that.

And your source is? I would simply point to you that they tend to behead their women to punish their men. In addition - I've yet to see one female in any of the pictures of the Iraqi government. Granted - that's Saddam's government but the realities are that such prejudices are pretty rampant in their culture. You know - Bodine might do just fine over there but like the original article said - it will certainly complicate things. Why add the compliction? To appease a bunch of feminazis?

No. To anger them. The feminazis would normally stomp and applaud madly but see they don't consider a woman appointed by President Bush an "authentic" woman.

lol - good point.
