Jesse Hardy is a 100% Disabled Vet who is about to make history and set the wrong precedent as the first homesteader to ever have his land confiscated by eminent domain. All because our state is being overrun with green-goons who would probably just as soon shoot him to save a turtle. Jeb is so far sympathetic to his cause, and is really looking at this hard. PLEASE HELP. Here is your chance to really make a difference FReepers. Jeb knows us well and values our input. (He personally thanked Free Republic after the election).
Urgent!: Please Contact Governor Bush before the March 13 hearing: email: jeb.bush@myflorida.com Phone: 850-488-4441 Fax: 850-487-0801 |

Also, our idiotic and pathetic new local radio host (who shows contempt for veterans in general) has
mocked Jesse on the air. Kid you not, we have audio clips on
the site. We're going after him full force and have intiated a boycott.
For a sponsor list and more info on the boycott and Jesse Hardy, go to www.pracfl.org.

seven year old son......looks like he's got some life in him yet.

This is sad. After serving our country this is what he gets? Booted out of his home? Pathetic!!!

Beware burocrats with a vision. Their cruelty is boundless.
At least the state's willing to pay him. Some radical environmentalists have figured out strategies to claim private property for the state without any compensation whatsoever! And they are well funded. The individual doesn't stand a chance of defending himself and of defending his property from confiscation by the state--with NO compensation.

Hardy is one of three property owners holding out on the state's quest to purchase the final 4,000 acres of the buy-out, which has cost $90 million thus far. This statement sums up the entire situation.
The State will not be deterred and will steam roll this poor guy and anyone else that gets in their fat bureaucratic, communist way. He should have taken the $5 million when he had the chance.
I'm all for putting up the good fight but this guy cannot win. Especially in Florida.
To: AAABEST
Jesse better watch it. If they find a King James Bible and a pellet gun on his property they'll start the stories about him living on a compound and abusing his poor son. Then the tanks will roll.
Am praying for Jesse.

I wonder if he has a land patent, or can get one.
Not sure how he would get this info, but perhaps here would be a good place to start:

Honest question.
Is he holding out for more $$$?
And while you may say no, do you know that beyond doubt?

Here's the email I sent Govenor Bush:
Governor Bush,
It has come to my attention that a disabled Navy veteran, Jesse Hardy, who has homesteaded his property and adopted a seven year old boy, is in danger of being run off of his land there in southern Florida if he does not come to terms with the Cabinet directed the Department of Environmental Protection land acquisition agents.
My understanding is that this man's 160 acres would not adversely effect the plans the state has for the other land in that area.
My general belief is, that short of absolute national security issues, or abject health issues impacting the life of citizens, that emminent domain laws have no place being used by any state, county or municipality to acquire citizen's property without their consent. Otherwise we make a mockery of the property rights that so many Americans, dating back to the Revolutionary War have fought, bled and died defending.
Please Governor, call of the speculators, environmentalists and administrators. Let this man live in peace on his own property.
Sincerely,
Jeff Head

You know, the USA may be the greatest nation in the world, but when I read stores like this one it makes me think otherwise. How dare those in power think they can "BUY" out someone from their home just so it can rot!!!!!
There are some people who don't live with the same ideas as the majority of folks in this country. Money means nothing to them and no amount will cause them to change their mind.
I'll be praying all goes well for this fella and he's left alone to live the life of his chosing along with his son.
To: AAABEST
Despite talk of offers of up to $5 million, Hardy says he has no plans to sell his property for any price.
"Living here is what has kept me going," he says. "It's my home. I'm too old to go anywhere else." What a convenient offer. He gets $5M, then the government gets most of it back via estate taxes in a few short years.
