Did the NOW-creatures intimidate Augusta National?

Do you have any links (no pun intended) for this? It seems as if it's third hand information with no direct source.

A golf magazine speculates, using sources, that Sandra Day O'Connor will be Augusta National's first female member.
The club will announce this, Golfweek says, the day before next month's Masters. And if true, that means the Supreme Court justice could walk through the club gates wearing her robe, directly past the Imperial Wizard wearing his.
It's the perfect ending to a Mel Brooks movie. And the perfect conclusion to this saga of the South.

O'Connor could be Augusta's first female member
From staff reports
Is there anything connected with the Augusta National all-male membership issue that should surprise us, a week after the Ku Klux Klan decided to enter the fray? How about this?
Golfweek magazine speculates this week that, according to its sources, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, 72, will be announced April 9 as the club's first female member.
The item appears in "Fore-caddie," billed as "Revelations & Speculation From The Man Out Front" -- a kind of golf rumor mill -- and even has a green jacket superimposed on O'Connor.
SNIP
Before Augusta National chairman Hootie Johnson's fight with women's rights activist Martha Burk, O'Connor's name was mentioned, but now Golfweek says she could be recognized as "the chosen one" the day before the Masters begins April 10. Johnson's news conference is held the Wednesday before Thursday's first round.
In the item, Golfweek wonders, "Why would Augusta National turn its prized tournament into a big-top circus the day before Round 1 with such Richter Scale news? Since when does Augusta National 'announce' its new members? And would a sitting Supreme Court justice even consider such a thing as jumping headlong into such a controversial matter?"
Johnson has stated that while a woman could be invited, there are no current plans to do so.

No....only that the Biddle column mentions "Golfweek".

O'Connor would be a terrific choice as a new member of Augusta Naional not because she is a woman, but because she is a great American. Her gender is only relevant to the leftist pinheads.

I agree she's a great choice. That's not a problem. The problem is PC insanity and how easily Augusta National was intimidated (if this story is true). I keep waiting for the backlash to begin concerning PC wackiness.....still waiting.

NOW & KKK.....not so strange bedfellows.

Nothing stirring here in Augusta on this story...sandy would be welcome, also Margaret Thatcher, Phyllis Schafly, Ann Coulter, etc.

Information on Masters often wrong

The Augusta Chronicle
"NEWS ORGANIZATIONS throughout the country also are reporting that the Ku Klux Klan is planning a protest in support of the Augusta National's membership policies. All the hullabaloo appears to be over a single man who doesn't have a "Klan" behind him.
Joseph J. "J.J." Harper, the self-proclaimed imperial wizard of the New American White Knights, said he is organizing a demonstration. Hate group watchdogs, however, said his splinter organization -- just months old and based in Cordele, Ga. -- appears to have little or no support in white-supremacist circles.
Behind the scenes, local officials are referring to him as the "one-man Klan." My comment..The New American White Knights has just one member..J.J.Harper

What's her handicap? I was under the impression that Augusta didn't customarily invite anyone to join who didn't have a fairly decent game. In other words, no 25 handicappers hacking around Amen Corner.
