Have at it, folks. I anticipate flames from those who see things from a purely political perspective and not a religious one, but I hope that those who have eyes to see and ears to hear already know what I've described here.

I think I remember you but I'm not sure. Are you the one who used to end his posts with the little angel? It looked like this ^i^

I generally agree with your post. Except that I am not convinced that W. is God's chosen person to cut the head off of the dragon.
The UN is a HUGE danger, on that we agree....

Many times, I have seen FReepers call our enemies on the Left stupid.
I know what you mean. The jingoism and bluster are poor substitutes for attempting analysis. Luckily, there are enough FReepers capable of adult discourse that something worthwhile crops up eventually.

..for the sole reason that America was raised up by God to protect Israel.
Thousands of dead American soldiers might beg to differ on that point...if they could. That's an insulting presumption and you should be embarrassed.

I remember y-all welcome back - why come back as a newbie?
To: laz17
the sole reason that America was raised up by God to protect Israel Nonsense. That would make God a respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34)
Israel has been accorded no more special concessions by God than anyone else.
And when Christ returns, the earth will be vaporized.
2 Pet 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Kinda hard to reconcile dispensational theology with that.
To: laz17
I understand your point. However, the left really is stupid. Its just that a lot of really stupid people follow them. Still, we should not underestimate them.

I am not in agreement with your dispensational theology. Honestly I don't know where I'm at theologically. I love Jesus and want to serve him. And I believe this country and what it stands for is worth fighting for. I almost stopped believing that from '92-00.

Fascinating post. I'd simply point out that being stupid and being evil are not mutually exclusive states. It's entirely possible for the left to be both.

Hi Laz,
Welcome back. I can find no fault in your essay, but, then, I'm just a dumb old southern baptist from the sticks of Alabama.
The difference between left and right is simple. The right believes evil and sin exist while the left does not. The right believes in God while the left believes that nothing is superior to man.

BINGO!
Great post.
I would also have to say Israel is special indeed.
Deuteronomy 7
6 For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.
7 The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. 8 But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your forefathers that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.

Laz,
Great post and truthful words. Even here at FR reside some of the blind. Their rage against the Sovereign is displayed clearly in their replies. Truth is not debated, as it stands firm and you do well to not debate with those who would incite vitriolic rhetoric.
Christ, through Israel is indeed the fulfillment of God's promise on earth. Through Israel, God has offered redemption to all, but pride is too heavy and burdensome a taskmaster to those who reject God's grace. The servants of the prince of this world know whom they serve and Whom they rage against, but they will not confess it with their mouths, for then would come confession and possibly repentance.
Laz, in the full armor, continue to stand!
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places]."

Thank you for posting this, Laz. I read it this morning, and came back to re-read this afternoon, and to make sure I had it bookmarked.
I agree with you.

As always, you are right on target.
"Have at it, folks. I anticipate flames from those who see things from a purely political perspective and not a religious one, but I hope that those who have eyes to see and ears to hear already know what I've described here."
No flames here. You articulated very elegantly what is truth. I have no doubt that you will understand this ... my political views as well as other views are shaped by what is written in the Bible.
Ah, Perfection will never fail you when it comes to wisdom. The Bible is the quintessential reference book for wisdom.
Any one who does flame you, demonstrates what you have just stated. Laz, when you post, would you please ping me? It's refreshing to read truth.

laz, I agree with most of what you said. What most don't understand is that there is a spirtiual war going on here between the forces of evil and good. I believe we are the good guys but I have noticed something in the political right that has bothered me recently. It's an arrogance in the administration when it comes to a quick and easy military victory in referance to Iraq. I don't see this arrogance in Bush but others around him. A verse in Proverbs comes to mind and I hope and pray that it is a unfounded fear on my part.
Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
