OK, what's the consensus around here as to WHY Bush wants to go ahead and get that vote from the UN? Does he want to prove how useless the UN is?

My guess is that's exactly what he's doing. From his answer in the press conference yesterday, he wants all the nations involved to show their cards, go on record. After it's over and they demand the spoils, their vote will be there for all to see their weaselhood. It's more and more like the story of the little red hen. "Who will help me win this war?"

"Not I, said Germany."

"Not I, said France."

"Not I, said Russia."

Then watch them come running to "help" when it's over.

That's what I gathered Bush meant. He wants to call for a vote, let everyone show where they stand. This show is disgusting. I wish we weren't even "seeking" their input. Blah. Puke.

Imagine this:

You caught your child playing with matches, so you lectured him and told him never to do it again. He promised. Later on, you peeked into his room and saw him playing with matches again, but you decided to avoid an unpleasant confrontation. Instead, you asked if he had any matches, and when he said "no", you pretended you believed him.

Until the house burned down, everything was just fine.

There was a child psychologist who used to be on television decades ago. Hiam Ginat. The only reason I remember his name, (if not the correct spelling), is because he made such good sense. He said, "Never ask a child a question when you already know the answer. All it does is invite the child to lie." (Exs: "Did you eat that cookie?" or "Didn't you hear me call you?" )

The German, French, Russian, and UN pretense, that Iraq is cooperating with inspectors, is playing with fire. They don't giveashit, it's not their house that's in danger. But when Americans, Democrats, play along with this pretense, it's either insanity or treason.

This whole inspection thing has been a ridiculous enterprise. Blix is playing Nero's fiddle, while France is dressed in a toga watching Rome burn. Old Europe is too kind of a description. These guys are nothing but industrial whores for Saddam. When we go in there a lot of French, German, and Russian crap is going to be uncovered.

Saddam had an ultimatumand a deadline. It was back in December when 1441 came out.

The deadline to turn over those weapons was mid-May 1991, and the deadline to have those weapons destroyed was July 31, 1991.

Unity at the expense of justice and truth is no Unity at all.

Syria is willing to reconsider US military action based on the answer to one question: How many Jews would be killed?

Exactly.. and Blix actually said that it was because of "external pressure" that Saddam was complying.

Doesn't anyone get it? It's like a little kid. If they think all you're going to do is ask and ask, they ain't going to comply. It's because they don't want you to ACT that they comply and obey their parents. This same shenanigan is going on with Hussein. The only reason he complies is to avoid giving us the info we need to ACT. It is ACTION which he fears, not inspections. As long as he can keep the inspectors fooled, he feels we cannot ACT.

I'm against a second resolution too. I want the real disarmament to begin tonight. Tomorrow night at latest.

Don't worry it will happen .. remember what the President .. He sworn on the bible to uphold our constitution and to protect the American people and that is a job he WILL do regardless of what the UN says

I wouldn't bet on that. They know they have the votes to prevent the Security Council from acting. They've already got their response to the report crafted. The French believe they have the winning hand in this venue and they're going to call to show cards. They're going to try to kill this attack once and for all, and if Bush goes anyway, then they're going to raise hell (via violent protests) around the world. The French are playing for keeps, for influence in the 21st Century.

The game the French are playing has nothing to do with IRaq and everything to do with establishing French hegemony in a united Europe (with an allied Russia) and diminishing/eliminating US influence in their sphere. Iraq just happened to be a window of opportunity that they are exploiting.

Off topic a bit, but I need help. Sometimes I can get C-Span on Windows Media (which comes in much better) I can get it all the time on Real Player (which is awful).

Like now when I use Window Media I get the sound only.

Is there anyone who know what is going on?
