Showing the killing of puppies is designed to get under the skin of the left wingnuts who are currently crying about the war. If they see puppies getting killed (instead of people, who they don't really care about), they might finally join the right side (even if it's for the wrong reasons).

How the heck did they catch Mitnick anyhow?

Short answer: he f***ed with the wrong sysadmin. The guy ran the San Diego Supercomputing Center, and after Mitnick hacked the place, the sysadmin began working with the FBI.

Blix's report was more whitewash, wouldn't directly answer the yes/no question as to whether Saddam has complied with Resolution 1441. Blix wants more time (months) to continue inspections. France and Germany spouted their usual rhetoric.

The Spanish ambassador was firmly in our court; she spoke impressively as did Jack Straw, the British ambassador, who departed from diplo-speak to address the French minister directly and by name (repeatedly), refuting each of the Frenchman's "points" one by one. FNC said de Villepan was "the victim of a diplomatic body slam." De Villepan looked stunned.

Later de Villepan spoke to the press outside the room with more of his desperate insistence that the UN is the only entity that should be presiding over the situation, etc.

My post 1805 doesn't begin to do justice to Jack Shaw's impressive address. Hopefully you can catch it on CSPAN or find a transcript. He hit it out of the park and then some.

Yes, Steve Doocy of FoxNews reported that it was the first time in 70 years that Helen was snubbed that way. How old is she anyway?

From her looks, I'd say she's approaching Methuselah's span....;-)

I may have read a little about that. Must have been one heck of a cyber-battle.

**Chile will oppose the new deadline..**

Criminy. It gets more and more insane. I feel like I'm locked in a mental ward with these UN idiots. Please somebody break out the restraints.

Saddam has chosen war. He's digging holes and buying US/UK uniforms. He's not going to disarm, period. This whole inspection process has been a farce.

Well, I'm sure France will come up with some excuse way Saddam is buying those uniforms

No, it really wasn't. It took less than two months from the time he hacked the SDSC to getting captured. After he formed Defensive Thinking, his web server got hacked a gazillion times in a row.

He's a script kiddie. There are transcripts of chat sessions where he begs for help in compiling an exploit from some source code he'd cut-and-pasted. (You're REALLY lame if you're a cracker who can't even run a compiler program, let alone one who can't write your own code.)

What ticks me is that none of these guys address just how viable it is for 250,000 troops to sit in theater for months to exact pressure on Saddam to continue to offer up some minimal semblance of cooperation (which semblance has yet to allow any unattended and recorded interviews).

They don't care. They would be so happy to see the US armed forces collape they would all be celebrating.

Maybe this whole fiasco is the best thing that could have happened. The Germans will very rapidly realize that going to bed with an ex/present colonial power that is a marginal economic and military power will not pay off. The French will use Germany as an engine for its own agenda.

This is so true. I hope the Germans realize it. France is in a total power play, hoping to secure primacy in the EU, while seriously diminishing the UK at the same time - because of their solidarity with the US.

His voice is cracking. He must've spent far too much time with the perfumed diplomats from France & Germany last night.

The French invented perfume because it takes the place of bathing, they suppose.

LOL, I don't know about a treatment, but I've got the same problem!

We started (in jest) a Freepaholics Anonymous chapter back during the sniper shooting threads. My family was right in the middle of it and one day I was on here for nine hours straight.

We all just started saying, "My name is________ and I'm a Freepaholic." Made me want to drink coffee and chain smoke (eat) candy cigarettes (I don't smoke)!
