Isn't there one of these investigations every time the price of unleaded goes up? Ye Gods!

Let's see, Babs, there are three little things that screw with the price of gas...supply, demand, and the screw-ball reformulations that the refiners have to make because of the greenie-weenies.

What do you bet her investigation will not turn up environmental regulation and goverment mandated reformulation of gasoline as the cause?

Oil's near $40/ barrel and Boxer complains about the price of gasoline going higher?! What did she expect, the price to go DOWN?

The shortest book on the shelf - Liberal economic theory (it has no pages).

I thought higher prices for gasoline was a major objective of Democrats/liberal/environmentalist.

Oh, I guess that was only if the higher prices were due to an increase of the
usurious tax on gasoline...

Right, calling for an investigation of big oil is a sure headline grabber particularly in Kalifornia.
They never find anything but market forces - with their extremely limited understanding of supply and demand I can see how they would view that as some sort of conspiracy.

Babs:
"I am extremely concerned about the rising gasoline prices in the state of California and I call on you to investigate this situation, particularly with regard to the possible manipulation of supply due to idle refineries," Boxer wrote.

When gasoline prices went down to $1.25 a gallon last spring, I called for an investigation. No one listened to me.

Boxer calls for repeal of Law of Supply and Demand

LOS ANGELES - Sen. Barbara Boxer called Thursday for repeal of the Law of Supply and Demand in response to California's soaring gasoline prices amid concerns the market is being manipulated in ways reminiscent of the power crisis that convulsed the state two years ago. In a letter to U.S. Comptroller General David M. Walker, the California Democrat asked the General Accounting Office to look at news reports that oil companies are charging higher prices in response to reduced supplies resulting from the crisis in Venezuela and increased demand due to unseasonably cold weather.

"I am extremely concerned about the rising gasoline prices in the state of California and I call on Adam Smith to rectify this situation, particularly with regard to the possible manipulation of supply" Boxer wrote. She then denied that she was calling for "regime change" in Venezuela. "Oh, no! I fully support the creation of a Castro-style government in Venezuela, and, hopefully, in the U.S."
